I have the pro controller I may switch to the GameCube setup. I've never played smash with a GameCube controller but I feel like the smash button is in a much better spot.

Re: Wii U Discussion
There are a bunch of challenge events and a long list of in-game achievements to beat.
That said, the CPU is extremely cheap at higher difficulties, which you'll have to play on to 100% the game.
And even with a ton of different modes, it all ends up feeling pretty monotonous after a while, since you're mostly just doing the same things over and over again with different characters.
I wouldn't recommend buying this game unless you have at least one other person to regularly play against. Local mutiplayer is where the game is most fun. The online multiplayer performs better than it did in Brawl, but it's still not up to the standards of Mario Kart 8.
I've never played a smash bros game. What's the learning curve like?Last edited by jyoung; 11-24-2014, 08:25 PM.Comment

Re: Wii U Discussion
I'm going to pick up a Hori Fight Pad for it. Probably try and get a Yoshi one for my daughter who wants the game. It's $25 at EB Games in Canada right now.

It all depends on the character you pick. Some of them are very straightforward (Little Mac), while others will require relatively complex strategies to consistently win (Olimar).
Thanks for the info. As someone that has never played before do you think the GameCube controller is necessary initially?Comment

Re: Wii U Discussion
Of the controllers I've tried with this game, I'd rank them:
GameCube > Pro Controller > Gamepad > Wiimote + Nunchuk
I haven't tried playing with a 3DS, a classic controller, or any of the third-party GameCube knock-offs. But those are also options.Comment

Re: Wii U Discussion
Which company made it? I've read HORI is better via Amazon reviews but there appears to be at least 2 companies making these controllers. I hope they are durable. I've had nothing but bad luck with 3rd party controllers over my lifetime in video games.Comment

Re: Wii U Discussion
Well after buying Super Mario Smash Brothers, I regret it. Just cannot get into that much. Never have liked it that much, should have known lol.
Good news is I got it for $30, so I am sure I can re-sell it for atleast that and not lose a dime.
Unless you are a huge fan of the game, I would not get it without friends to play with, I just play late nights when daughter is in bed and it got boring after 2 days for me.Comment

Don't have a WiiU or a Nintendo handheld so until this day it basically serves as last (final?) Nintendo game.
My hope is that in the next couple of years their next console will fix the things that prevented the U from being as successful as the competition and I'll snag the couple of titles I'm interested in this gen.Comment

It and Mario Kart dominate my weekends with friends over. I have over 100 hours of MK8 and I haven't played one second of it single player.Comment
