Without releasing a Zelda game for essentially the whole generation?

They only have like 87 million to go, they can still get there.

          LOL.

If Wii U ever drops to $100, I'll pick one up for Zelda, DKC and SMW3D. If not, oh well.

As much as it hurts to say.. I will certainly not be an early adopter on the next Nintendo console. Will be the first Nintendo console ever I didn't have day 1.
I love the Wii U but not enough must play games. Will grab Zelda of course but that's probably it for the Wii U

Paper Mario Color Splash is a real enjoyable game.
Played for about an hour so far.

Still waiting on a true Paper Mario game but so far it's a stress free fun time.

                Re: Wii U Discussion

Hey guys, I am looking for a little bit of help.

I want to get my niece a Wii U for Christmas. The problem is I don't know anything about them. I am looking on amazon right now, and want to get the Mario Kart bundle. I'd need to get 2/3 extra controllers so that my sister, her bf, and my niece can all play. What kind of controllers do I need? Looks like there are a few different ones (pro controller, gamepad, remote+nunchuck). I am feeling old right now, hahah.

So, basically, what would I need to get, other than the console, for 3 people to be able to play? Any game suggestions would be great, too. She is 8 years old.

                Thanks.

Donkey kong country tropical freeze is a must. The system comes with one gamepad and you cant get them with out buying a system which is pretty stupid. Besides the gamepad that comes with the system you should get remote+nunchuck. I have never used the pro controller but some people like them.

To be perfectly honest, I would wait for Nintendo Switch. Mario Kart 8 is already confirmed to be ported to Switch and include new tracks and all the DLC that's already available on the Wii U version.

DKC: TF hasn't been confirmed for Switch but im hoping that it will be at some time in 2017 because it would be smart for Nintendo to re-release all of their Wii U exclusives on Switch.

We were considering the limited edition 3DS or something for Christmas as my 5 year old's first exposure to Nintendo but are probably going to opt not to buy into dead platform(s). Will come down to price on the Switch, for his birthday in July mostly likely.

Both the Vita and the Wii U are featured in 'blast from the past' bundles on Gamestop to help clear out used/refurb inventory, lol.

I agree with this. I have a Wii U and I'm a big fan of it but d wait to see the deets on Switch before pulling the trigger as it seems the best of Wii U is coming to Switch.

I appreciate the suggestions, and if I was buying this for myself I would wait for the Switch. But, that's because I am a more serious gamer. I'm getting this for my 8 year old niece to play once in awhile with her mom and step dad. She didn't specifically ask for it, and I'm not sure if she will even play it (but I can when I babysit ) I doubt she even knows what a Wii U is, and certainly not that Switch is coming out soon. I am sure they would be happy with just a few games, as they do tons of stuff as a family out of the house and are rarely home together anyway. The Wii would just be for something new and fun to do over winter here in cold Wisconsin. So, it's not really a major gaming investment. It looks like there are plenty of good games out, so as far as it being a "dead" system, that doesn't really matter. I was mostly just concerned about getting the right controllers/remotes.

                              Lmao!

Everyone completely glossed over the fact that this purchase was for an 8 year old's Christmas present.

Sorry kid, but the super cool present I was going to buy you was at the end of its console life... It just wouldn't have been the smartest gaming decision... You understand, right?

As far as the controllers go, I would probably just buy as many wiimote nunchuck combos as you think you'll need.

Don't think anyone's really glossing over it, just not interested in buying a console right now that will surely have a significant (30%+ IMO) price drop in the next few months, and could have issues getting proper support for if it's discontinued soon after.

If the price and games are right, then by all means go for it.
