Replacing PS3 Blu-ray Player?

Is the BD player fairly easy to replace on a slim PS3? My son placed a second disc in the PS3 when there was one in there already. He was able to get the second disc out, but the first one will not come out. I need to look when I get home.

Is it easy to get the first disc out of the BD player?

How much and where can I get another drive if its is the drive? I can just about bust him up right now......ARGH!!!!!!

Any help/recommendations would be great.

I've heard of the butterknife wedge, the bent paper clip jab, and the paper clip nudge.

Can any of this damage the disc? I bet Sony still charges $150 to do repairs also, which cracks me up on a $300 system. The PS3 is only 2 months old, I wonder if I tell them it stopped working that it would be covered under warranty.

It could damage the disc, but if your carefull it won't. It's jsut a matter of jarring the disc a bit to get back on the track to eject it. 170.00 now for repairs.

The PS3 is only 2 months old, I wonder if I tell them it stopped working that it would be covered under warranty.

Damn George, he must have forced it in? Is this the one you just bought him not too long ago? Did you get the Best Buy protection on it? You could always just tell them the disc won't eject.

Damn George, he must have forced it in? Is this the one you just bought him not too long ago? Did you get the Best Buy protection on it? You could always just tell them the disc won't eject.

We bought it at GS after taking advantage of the trade-in deal with the Wii. I ended up fixing it, gave me a heart attack. The stuff kids will do sometimes.

When my wife called me at work today and told me, I kept my cool which I was surprised. I told my son over the phone that if the system is dead as a lesson they won't be getting another one or will it be fixed.

Anyone know of a site that sells refurbished bluray drives that will work in a PS3? Mine works, but its old and its starting to sound pretty rough when you insert or eject a game. I got a feeling it wont be long before its gonna die.

Matt, when I got home his system was still on and there was no way to power it down or even eject the disc. I unplugged it from the wall and let it sit for a minute before plugging the power back in. I powered the system back on and hit the eject button, the disc came out. I am glad the darn thing did not break, no money to really repair or buy another one at the moment.
