Thinking of getting a PS3 and need some advice.

Before I say anything. Please don't debate which console is better. This is not a console war or anything. I currently own a 360 right now. But right now I'm just growing bord of the 360 mainly because I only talk to a few friends in party chat once in a while. I also mainly play sports games now on the 360 and SD vs raw aswell. I once in a while do play Black ops but not much. I been for a while wanting to get PS3 because of MLB the Show 12 that came out. Since I mainly play sports games anyway I thought of saling my 360 and games and thought of buying a ps3 and the show and buy madden 12 later on when it comes out. Bottomline is with the recent problems with hackers messing up PSN network and also I know PS3 has had a past history of their patch updates messing up ps3 in different ways. But even with these problems PS3 is having right now. Is it worth giving up my 360 and games to buy PS3?

P.S. This is not a debate or fanboi type thread. I just need some advice from people who have or had ps3 before. Please give me some advice on this subject.

Right Freddy here's my 2 cents:

I personally feel that both the 360 and PS3 are the same thing so there's no debate there. I find that 90% of games will be released on both consoles and there really isn't a scratch of difference (with the exception of exclusives).

I don't think anyone should tell you otherwise. I've heard the PS3 is a more powerful machine and whatnot but the developers are releasing the same game on both consoles and the details are really minuscule if anything.

The Show is an amazing title and I've seen enough people in the MLB forums sacrifice the 360 just for the The Show. But ask yourself this, do you like baseball? Is it worth the money?

I think that should be your quintessential question since Madden will be coming to both consoles. As for hackers, yes its a bummer, its been 2 weeks but it happens and it can happen to any company be it Apple, Microsoft etc..

So Freddy, tell us, do you like baseball son? Do you like it enough to haunt that Situation lookalike Jeter in the wee hours of the morning?

Why not just keep the 360 and add a PS3?
Unless someone can't afford the $300, I'd say its best to have an extra game console (or two).

Are there any exclusives that you enjoy and want on the 360? It seems like The Show is your main exclusive on the PS3 that is making you want to make that jump. Which games do you have on the 360?

Not sure where you read the patch updates messing up the PS3, but that hasn't happened to my knowledge. I guess you can screw up the system in the middle of a firmware update like you would with any electronic device that has firmware updates.

SDvR has improved greatly on the PS3 with 2011 when compared to the 360. Before that, it was a jaggy mess and really stood out. With 2011, the jaggies aren't as noticeable. From a performance stand point, it runs about the same on the PS3 as 360.

Positives:
-excellent 1st party exclusives
-the controller (this depends by user)
-don't have to buy extra charging kits for controllers
-XMB (dashboard) even though it needs a little bit of an update.
-excellent PSN original releases
-PS1 games will play off the PS3
-You can share DLC up to 5 active accounts

Negatives:
-d/l speeds before the new PSN weren't that great for demos (not sure if they will improve with the new infrastructure)
-manually sync trophies
-no cross game chat
-some SCEA titles tend to have online issues the first month or so
-don't place CC/Debit info on your account. LOL!
-playstation web site sucks imo

Like Pete said, if you can afford both, why not. The problem like PS3veron states is with this generation of gaming, the gap has closed quite a bit between 3rd party exclusives when compared to the past. You will find 90% or so of the same games on both. The one thing that has impressed me about Sony this generation is that they had all these exclusives for PS1 and PS2 era's go multi-platform and they went out and had 1st party studios create new IP's to make up for the loss of 3rd party exclusives.

Pick which exclusives you like more and go with that. There are differences in some cross platform games however. Mainly the resolution/Graphics area. You can go to different sites and see the comparison reviews yourself.

I would suggest keeping both. There will be a game come out you want to play on whichever one you don't have and then you'll wish you kept it.

So if you can swing having both do that. If not just keep the one that has the the games you want the most.
If online is a factor I'd say 360...

Like others have mentioned,it all comes down to (imo) which exclusives suit your needs better.
I did what you are thinking about doing back in FEB,and have not once questioned my decision.

I did it mainly for the 1st party exclusives,as for me they were much more enticing than what the 360 offered.....I also enjoy the fact that I no longer have to pay to play online,although PSN is down right now,I'm sure everything will be restored soon enough.

I have both and the show was the sole reason for me getting a PS3 and I havent regretted it.

But if online is important to you and having the best for your $60 is important then keep the 360

Online games are always better on 360 and exclusives to me at least are not near the main reason to choose one over the other because no Sony exclusive ever has long replay value.

Many made the latest KZ to be the best ever but if you go and see their online rooms it is nowhere near what you expect for what they tried to make it out to be.

Ive recently rediscovered my PS3. My only problem is the clunky online interface. But it doesnt hurt having both.

I am not going to get into name calling. I am not trolling because I do want PSN up because maybe you have no idea but you do not need to be an active online gamer to get the benefits of having psn up.

I do not have the pitch edit rosters and I also do not have the last patch that they released because I was away while it came out.

If you have read what I stated many times is that I have played all the games like KZ and UC and others in the 3rd party field on both consoles and prefer the 360

But do not call me a troll because I do not play all my games like you on PS3 and then tell me I have no right to be upset and post my feeling for it.

You just do not want to hear any negative info on Sony, me having the console and being upset at it is justified because I paid Sony $300 for the console and MLB the show so sorry If I feel like I have a right to be upset in a thread that is dedicated to talk about the network.

You just want to justify your Sony fanboyism by calling me a troll. Good job
