Re: Playstation Network and Discussion - The New Beginning

Much better update this week: Street Fighter Third Strike (with a demo that I'm downloading now), NHL 12 Demo, and Parasite Eve II.

Had to SMH at this though - really Capcom?

If I buy PS Plus, can I put all my game saves (up to 150 mb) online, then redownload them to my hard drive at a later time?

I ask bc my 60 gb is about to die, and I want to save my gamesaves. After I deactivate the fatty and plug in the new Slim, can I download those gamesaves online to my new slim's hard drive?

          Thanks!

Do you really care where I sent this from?
Yes, I just wanted to make sure it was a 2-way street, that I could not only back up saves from the HD to online, but that I could also for instance take an online save that is not on my Hard Drive and place it on the hard drive.

              Thanks for helping me man!

How does the automatic backup saves work? I had my update to start between 4-6 AM, when I was asleep, but it doesn't show that anything saved in my back up file?

The next time you start up a game, if it is eligible for backing up saves through the cloud feature, a message will pop up asking you if you would like for your system to automatically backup your saves for you. Select "Yes," play the game, make the saves you need to, etc. The next day you decide to go onto your PS3, since it will be after 6:00 AM, before your XMB pops up, there will be a list of which save files were backed up from which games.

You might need to somehow turn the feature on, if you haven't already. Otherwise, it doesn't automatically back up retroactive save files. You will have to "re-save" them, or replay the games (or you can manually copy those over yourself, for now).

You might need to somehow turn the feature on, if you haven't already. Otherwise, it doesn't automatically back up retroactive save files. You will have to "re-save" them, or replay the games (or you can manually copy those over yourself, for now).
I guess I have to turn the feature on from the XMB settings menu, instead of just saying yes when it prompts me when the game boots up. Because so far nothing has saved.

                    Thanks for the explanation.

So If I have 150 mb of saves on my hard drive, can I transfer them online, then deactivate my ps3, activate a new ps3, and copy my online saves to my new ps3's hard drive?

Sounds good to me. You can have your account on up to five different PS3's at a time though, so there may not be a need to deactivate your account on your current PlayStation system.

If he's afraid that his original 60gb is about to go six feet under though it would be wise to deactivate it while he has the opportunity.

You can always call Sony and have them do that for you as well, just as a last resort option.

I just didn't want him to deactivate his other console for no reason, if he was planning on using it again.

I follow you. I've heard horror stories about Sony not deactivating consoles though so I'm just helping make everything clear as we can.

So what's up with Xbox always having sales on their points. Like get 4000 points for X amount of money but Sony never doing that? Is it because PSN uses money instead of buying points? I'd like PSN cards to go on sale lol.
