Since EA owns Dice, so they own the rights to the Frostbite engine, which is what Battlefield uses for it's destructible environments. They can't own the rights to the idea of destructible environments.

I wasn't impressed with MW3 or Tomb Raider. They were obviously riding on the popularity of the two to open the show with but they both were blah. Ghost Recon was the peak for me, and if they put together a good story and solid MP, they might just be able to shake up the COD scene. Although, I think BF3 will have chance to do that first.

I didn't think it would be so Kinect heavy, and at the same time, the technology looked somewhat glitchy. I actually like the motions for Fable but I haven't ever played the game and probably still won't.

I would have liked to see how internet TV would be included. They just announced it but didn't incorporate how.

that's not true. Other games do destruction, and some even have their own engines built for that purpose.

I just don't see CoD ever needing stuff like destruction and cover. The single player campaign can accomplish destruction with scripted set piece events, and it probably wouldn't fit in right with CoD's style of online play. Treyarch also had a pretty good cover mechanic in Quantum of Solace a few years ago, but the only likely reason it's not in CoD is because they don't want it to be. It would lead to a different style of play online.

I knew about the Frostbite engine and all, just what I had heard is that they owned the rights to having destructible environments. Maybe I read it wrong.

I don't think destructible environments would work in Call of Duty anyway, especially not in MP. But let's not get off topic.

Digging the update to the Dashboard. Looks really slick. Having Bing is pretty awesome instead of digging through the marketplace.

I hate to be complaining about almost everything so far, but the games tab is hanging out around the settings and music now. More ads and stupid marketplace menus to scroll by to get to my gaming things.

Well for playing games on a disc, there is the disc game right there on the home screen so you don't have to tab over at all.

Other than that, I don't think its a big deal (at least for me), it overall looks to be a better layout IMO.

Considering Microsoft's obvious connection with Windows, its not that crazy to see an ad for it. And the ads really don't affect the dashboard much besides taking up space. Just seeing them bothers you?

Did not see the conference but there is not 1 thing here I am interested in. Maybe Microsoft is secretly having teams works on games for the next xbox.

IDK I feel like the whole paying for live thing should really curb advertisements. But after thinking about it again, its an associated product so its not that bad.

Just say "Xbox: Games", and Kinect will take you there...

Soon "Xbox: Games" will not be a valid command. Seems like Games are on the backburner at the time.

The Windows Phone syncs up to Xbox Live. It makes perfect since to be there.

True. If there were destructible environments in COD how would people be able to camp all day?
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.
