I give you credit for enjoying the franchise the way it is now.
I was digging it until Brotherhood and now Revelations. Thought they would change the time period per game, but I was wrong.
The games are all identical to me. Game play has literally not changed since AC1 in 2007.
I disagree. The gameplay has substantially changed since AC1. Sometime the change is subtle, but, IMHO, each iteration has gotten better and better gameplay wise. I was shocked with Brotherhood came out so quickly after AC2 and I was skeptical, but I thought AC:B was the best yet. I look forward to this new one.

Yup - I just can't agree with anyone that says the games have stayed the same. The differences in A1 and Brotherhood are incredible. The chaining of moves, with the inclusion of "finishing" type moves with the throwing knives or pistol, the use of the assassin clans, everything about AC:B was a lot better than the original, and even better than the second one.
