    Re: Black Xbox 360 Slim

Guys, my 360 I have now has been with me since '07 and I haven't had any problems with it until now. It's began overheating just randomly when playing BF3. It's been in the same space the past year as always and never overheated until this past month. It's probably done it 7-8 times this month now.

I just recently moved rooms and got all new furniture and the space for my 360 on my TV stand is a lot tighter than my old area and after about 10 minutes of sitting idle at the dashboard the 360 will overheat. So I have to play with it just sitting in the floor. I have also noticed my 360 just seems to get louder and louder every day and has shut off before on its own with the 3 red lights, but always started back up normally.

Would it be wise to go ahead and get new slim along with a 250GB HDD? I need a larger HDD anyways since my 120GB is filling up and forcing me to delete things I don't want to. Would the slim overheat like my 360 is? The space I'd be putting it in has about 2-3 inches of space above the current white 360, 4-5 inches(These guestimates are probably off) on each side, open air in the front, 3-4 inches in the back with a hole for the wires that I guess could allow some air in.

With the slim being smaller and less likely to overheat, would it work in a space like that? If you guys need pictures of the space I could probably do that.

How easy is it to add an HDD to the 4gb?

So easy even a Caveman could do it

Took all of 15 seconds DJ. It just slides/snaps right in.

That's good to know. I have a 20gb right now that I'm using on my old PRO (I'd be trading that in), so I would be able to just snap that on to the 4gb and be good to go? Eventually I plan on getting a larger HDD for this so I can download all of my games to it, but as long as I can use my current 20gb, I'd be good to go.

You are talking about the new hd right??? If you are talking about the old long 20gb hd then I'm not too sure on how that will work. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Yeah, it's the old long one that snapped on to the side of the PRO.

They can not attach to the slim 360.

If you crack the case to the old 360 HDD's, yes, you can place the HDD into the slim.

Will this work with the slim 360? I didn't realize the system didn't even come with HD cables...

It should. It looks like a regular HDMI cable. Some of electronic gurus please chime in.

I picked up a 12ft HDMI at The Home Depot for $5.99. Not sure if they still have them in stock but might be worth a try.

Yeah, and you can get an aftermarket little shell for the HDD on Amazon.

                          Re: Black Xbox 360 Slim

I just ordered a 360 slim off amazon and I am coming from an old pro system(gave it to my stepfather) and was wondering about my game saves. Now I saw on amazon there was like a 15 cable that is used to transfer files from and old 360 HDD to the new 360 HDD, is this cord the only way to go?

I have the old transfer cable that was used when transferring from an 20 Gb to a bigger HDD. Can I just use that cable and back up all my saves on my computer and then use a flash drive to transfer said saves onto the new slim 360?

Or am I stuck having to buy that cable to transfer my saves?

I don't know if you can save your files to a computer. If you can wait until the new dashboard update hits (next week I think), then you can upload your games from your old box to the cloud and then download them on to the new box.
