Re: Report: New Xbox to Launch in 2013
I'd assume the lower price would be 300 or 400$, and the high end version would be 400 or 500$. I can't imagine them going over the 500$ mark. Same with Sony, I think 500$ will be about the limit they go to. I'll buy a PS4 or Xbox 720 for 500$, but if we start talking 600-700$, I might have to wait a bit.Comment

Re: Report: New Xbox to Launch in 2013
Sony had to be sued over the disc read errors and thankfully I've never had to deal with the YLOD on my PS3 ($150 to Sony to fix?), but MS handled the RROD problems exactly how they should and made it right with consumers IMO. As long as that continues to be the case I don't see it really being an issue.Comment

Re: Report: New Xbox to Launch in 2013
I hope console developers don't think this way. Well, they probably don't. Otherwise, we would all still be playing PS1-ish games. 7-8 years from now, 360/PS3 games may look like what PS2 games seem today. But you can't actually realize it, until you get used to a new generation of technology. I used to watch some Youtube videos a few years ago and think to myself: "Wow, what a great quality videos! These videos look so good and sharp!". When I went back a little while ago and watched some of these older videos, I couldn't get past the first few seconds - it just looks terrible to me now. Same thing with graphics. That's the way I see it.
My guess is that 10 years from now, we'll all sit and laugh at today's graphics, if not laugh - then say "And to think that we were sure it can't get any better"...
I'm not sure who said it, not going to go through, but to say that a new system would not bring enhanced graphics is ludicrous. That is usually the first noticeable upgrade and the main marketing ploy for new consoles.
Anyone remember that Madden video when the PS3 and 360 were set to launch? Everyone was talking about the graphics. Obviously physics and AI will be improved with smarter technology, us intelligent gamers know that, but you can't communicate that visually, so the graphics have to be enhanced, otherwise no one will actually see the point of getting a new system if our current ones look just as good.Comment

Re: Report: New Xbox to Launch in 2013
I was just watching that EA video again a few days ago. the one where they introduced NBA Live 2007's next-gen graphics/physics compared to the PS2. I remember the first time I watched it: except for T-Mac being extremely "white" (lighting or not - what were they thinking?!?!?!), it looked fresh and new. Then when they showed the players shooting in that gym with that futuristic look, I went nuts!
SpoilerYeah, I was actually impressed by EA at some point in the past. Would you believe?!My Specs:

One more thing: I'm sure all of you have seen it. No matter how new and amazing graphics a game has, when you look at some object extremely close - it still looks blurry and...well, terrible. This is something that I believe will be fixed at some point with newer technology. Close-ups are always one level (or 10 levels) below the level of graphics from "regular" distance.
Imagine what those regular-distance graphics will look like, when close-up graphics will look as good as today's regular-distance graphics (read it again if you didn't understand, it can be tricky at first, but...you know what I mean). My Specs:
