    Really Strange Problem (PS3)

    Greetings Comrades!

So I am having a weird problem; My PS3 has recently been constantly (within a few minutes) disconnecting from the PSN and I am only having this issue using a wired connection.

After a few minutes I keep getting "An Ethernet Cable Has Been Disconnected" (or something a long those lines) and it kicks me off PSN before reconnecting me back immediately. My DNF percentile has sky rocketed because of this.

Now I have done all the usual processes of elimination:

-I have changed my Ethernet cable (bought a CAT 5 one recently).
    -I bought a new router
-I got a new modem from my ISP
-My PS3 is in DMZ and I have disabled Media Server Connection.
-I have updated my router's firmware (DLINK 615)
-I have connected other devices through the same cable and it seems fine.

Now with wireless I have absolutely no problems, everything is smooth and since my router/modem are literally a foot away from my PS3 I dont have any slowdown with connection (its the same).

So please help me out guys! I am still old fashioned and prefer a wired connection, have any of you had this issue? What did you do?

Also if your router is literally a foot away, there shouldn't be any difference right?

    Gracie!

Is it possible there could be a problem with the port itself on the PS3 where you connect the ethernet cable? Maybe its dirty causing a disconnect issue.

Thanks for that Nemesis, I knew I could count on a fellow Islander!

Err so what do you suggest I do? Clean the port?

Quick question before you do this. When you plug the ethernet cord in on the PS3 a light should come on next to the plug. Does it? If it does not that usually means the port is dead.

As far as cleaning the port, disconnect the ps3 from the power source first! I use Q-tip with a slight drop of rubbing alcohol on it (barely wet to the touch). Then just clean the copper contacts. Its a long shot but definitely worth trying.

Thanks again bro! I will definitely check on the light and revert.

EDIT: I have a slim by the way, does this thing have a light at the back because I can't see it but there is a flashing green light at the front next to the yellow HD (I believe) light.

Sorry as I said I am a complete noob!
