I'm interested in Scorpio for when i eventually get a 4k tv....

Anyone think Sony must have something up their sleeve though? Or do we really think they'll go with only the PS4 Pro and that's it? MS delivering real 4k will be a punch in the face, albeit one that Sony knows is coming.

Think Sony has a PS4 Pro 2 or something in mind? I could see them coming to E3 with something comparable and trying to one up MS, I dunno.

No chance that is happening....Sony was caught with their pants down by the Scorpio announcement. If Sony releases another console in a year or two that means in 5 years they would have released 4 consoles....How is that even smart business.

This is an L they will need to take for a couple of years and I dont think they care due to the sales difference and wider appeal world wide

I am so upset today after seeing various reports about the PRO melting a console and knowing it was a lie. I am embarrassed by the XBOX One community on YT that supports a handful of XBOX supporters even after Phil Spencer denounced them on Twitter.

These dudes actually bought a PRO and burned it on the side and posted a pic to NEOGAF that users had buring PRO'S

The XBOX fanbase is fantastic and I love them here at OS but these few have a bigger voice just for the nonsense they spit.

Pretty much this, although the Playstation and Xbox Reddit sites are actually great for information, help, etc. but I'd also add to stay away from the comments section of pretty much any gaming site.

YouTube or Twitch during a video or stream might be the worst thing ever.

I kind of disagree. There's lots of valuable information posted there. Developers of games post there. It has its fault as does any community that's not enforced heavily, but overall, I think it's not terrible.

Sometimes I think certain sub reddits fall into this group think mentality that's difficult to overcome if you happen to have an opposite opinion (PS4 subreddit right before No Man's Sky launched)

Yea I get tons of good info from gaf & reddit. The subs that get culty in their collective opinion, I tend to either avoid or only lurk hehe.

Forums are not important in this case. But when you have drones attached to your spewing on Youtube channel to make a buck and constantly make daily videos about lies towards another bran it really starts to kill the community on YouTube. I start seeing recommended videos and videos about this fan base said this and that. it is so bad that XBOX fans the few that are bad apples are making things up and even Phil Spencer had to denounce these dudes

The people who burned/melted a PS4 PRO should join that guy in the video in the PS4 forum where others said he was mental. They can all be happy psychos together. I'm not the biggest Microsoft/Xbox One fan but jeez, I would much rather you know play the games on the system as opposed to buying it just to burn it. *SMH*

ESPN3 has been having some major issues across all platforms. Are you sure it wasn't that issue. This weekend was particularly bad. My twitter feed was full of complaints.

Also, you might try Spectrum, since Charter Spectrum bought out Time warner. I think there are two Spectrum choices now. One for Charter, and one for everyone else.

Alright, more BS to put a stop to so I'll take this piece by piece.

The Xbox One name is still seen as inferior and like the President of GameStop said months ago to Spencer himself, consumers still see Xbox One as what it was originally going to be. 25m is great but not so much when your competition is 20m ahead.

The President of GameStop isn't really an authority on anything except for how GameStop is run.

I know Scorpio is a mid-gen console refresh but im hoping it's not.

$300 is crazy but even the most hated Microsoft person wouldn't be able to resist buying it day one. Besides, if it launches at $400, lowering it to $300 isn't going to make that much of a difference to a billion dollar company like Microsoft. Consoles are all about getting into the home and making the money on software, digital stuff and Xbox Live Gold subscriptions. Short term, they would be losing money but over the long run, they would break even and eventually make money. Getting off to an excellent start is huge because unless you screw it up (which both seem to do every other gen), you can ride the momentum for the entire generation.

Yes, even the person who hates Microsoft the most would be able to resist. You know how many times I got called a PlayStation fanboy in this very thread? Mainly because people don't like hearing other viewpoints. MS could have released the XBOne at $50 in it's original form and I still would not have bought one. I'm talking about when the Kinect and all that other garbage was still floating around. Some people just aren't interested in multiple consoles - and you know what? That's fine. I like all of them, even the Wii U. Some don't. That's life.

The rest of the stuff that involves PC is where the problem lies. Microsoft and Sony are worrying way too much about PC and they don't need to be. PC gaming will never ever be as popular as consoles. It's never happened. It will never happen and it's not even because of money. It's because when you first start gaming, it's on a console and not a PC. Consoles are easier to just plug and play. PC games require way more investment, time, installing drivers, being all compatible, having a controller that's compatible, etc. If anything, it's more of a headache than anything else.

This is where the real ignorance lies. PC Games require as much time as you want to give them. This isn't the 1990s anymore. I built a PC 5 years ago.
You know how many times I've swapped a part out on it? Once, when I bought a 1080.
You know how often I update a (singular) driver, being a graphics card driver? Maybe once every 3-4 months, when I feel like clicking on a pop-up that says "Hey, a new driver is available." - which then downloads and installs itself, just like a console software update.
You know how many times I've had an issue with a controller? Never, because support for 360 controllers are built in to Windows.

The real headache is reading uninformed posts like these talk as if it's gospel. So you're right. It's not about money, because in the long run console gaming is more expensive than PC gaming. It's about being uninformed - or just preferring consoles, which is also fine, but don't be ignorant about it.

Reason why im still not a fan of mid-gen consoles is simple. PS4 and Xbox One are damn good enough they neither need a mid-gen console and trying to prevent console gamers from jumping to PC isn't going to happen. If those out there want to play on PC, they will do regardless of what Sony and Microsoft does with their consoles but those people are the minority.

I haven't seen anything about this being to prevent people from jumping to PC. Mid-gen refreshes aren't anything new. Maybe not to the scale of this, but that's what happens when you start on the back foot compared to where technology at the time is.

Outside of your Warcrafts, Hearthstone, Diablos, Counter Strike, etc. as well as just the MMORPGS/MOBA genres in general, games don't sell on PC. When was the last time a game sold over 1m on PC but didn't sell that on consoles? Add in the fact that most PC ports are horrible at launch and well, why any console gamer would want to switch to PC gaming is beyond me especially when if PC gaming was so great, consoles wouldn't sell the high amounts that they do and have done for decades.

Again, ignorance. There is more to gaming than major AAA games (which still do sell extremely well on PC.)

Most PC ports are far from horrible at launch, that's why you see the news when a rare PC port is ****ty. It's not something that's just accepted.

The main problem is that Sony and Microsoft are trying to be something that they're not - PC gaming. And quite honestly, they need to stop trying to be that for one simple reason. Those who play on consoles do so for one main reason - they don't want to be bothered playing games on PC. It's simply not how they want to play games. If they did, PS4 wouldn't be at 45m, Xbox One wouldn't be at 25m and last gen wouldn't have had around 170m total. Hell, even the casual Wii got more gamers to buy that console as opposed to gaming on PC. Kind of says it all right there.

I'm dumbfounded by this comment, literally. PC Gaming is just another way to do it. I play on PC. I own an XBOne, PS4, WiiU, Wii, Vita, multiple 3DS, multiple DS, etc.

Since I bought an XBOne/PS4, that must mean I don't want to play on PC though. Gotcha.

I don't have the wrong idea about the consoles. I know what they are. It's just not what I want Scorpio to be. Mid-gen consoles is simply a waste for one reason - console gamers are not jumping to PC. If that was true or was ever going to happen, it would have happened already. The simple fact that it hasn't should tell both Sony and Microsoft something and that's to stop trying to compete with the PC market when there is no market to compete with in the first place.

It's a "Hey, when we released these consoles a few years ago they were middling for the technology available. Now that new stuff is out, we'll refresh them with what's middling for this year." thing.

If you want to keep up with your illusions that console games think they are superior to PC gamers and vice-versa, feel free. The only truth is that these consoles are weak compared to PC in terms of power. That's fine, that's not what gaming is about. Making it an "Us vs. Them" thing is stupid now, just like it's stupid that people pick sides in a "PS4 vs. XBOne" type of way. If you like one better, that's good. Enjoy all the games you get.

You are, however, allowed to enjoy games everywhere. It's not a crime. Some games (shooters, MOBAs) work infinitely better with a mouse and keyboard as a control scheme. Some games (action-adventure stuff like Dark Souls) work infinitely better with a controller as a control scheme.

My advice to you would be to stop taking things so seriously and do a bit of homework before making long posts filled with misinformation.
