Man it's so refreshing to know there's others like myself on the separate finances thing. I'm looked at like an outcast at my job. My wife and I had one checking account when we were dating seriously and it lasted about six days.

Once I saw how much her shampoo and conditioner were, and she saw how much my games were! That didn't last very long. I once had a guy at my work argue with me cause he thought I could save $10 if I bundled my car insurance with my wife. These are the same dudes that rent games and stay up all night for three days just to beat them, cause their wives won't let them buy crap

We don't have separate finances, but i more keep my wife accountable. Her parents never saved and were terrible with money, so she doesn't always have the best habits. She wants me to help question her sometimes, especially when Amazon makes it so easy to waste money.

It's less "buying whatever we want" and more "making sure we really want it". Impulse buys are crazy, and I used to waste so much money on gaming that I never really benefited from.

I cannot wait to play Morrowind on the Xbox again, those comparison clips were crazy. It even seemed to run with a solid FPS...

(Yes I know I can play this with crazy graphics on the PC. I have done it. It's not the same.)

Wow I have to admit that I'm actually a bit envious of anybody that plays this for the first time on Xbox X. Looks incredible, played it a little just to see when I first got the X may dive back into it after I clear some games I need to play.

This goes to how supremely complicated eyesight is, which is something I'm figuring out more lately with my vision issues. As my eye doc put it, vision is so much more than light hitting your eyes. your brain does a ton of heavy lifting.

In this case, your brain helped fill in how you expect RDR should look. but when put side-by-side with a 4K version, your brain will now seek out and highlight the differences in a way that makes the 360 version look worse than it ever did.

Where this hit home for me is on Prominence Poker. They have these displays over characters' heads that show their name, chip count and such. I never knew these were transparent and not solid blue. When I got my contacts, suddenly I saw these displays clearly, and saw that they were transparent with designs in the blue background.

Late, I played the game with my glasses again, and now I could see the transparency. My brain now knew what was there and now I could see it. In essence, my brain took the image I with my contacts and downsampled that for my new view of the game instead of presenting me with t he previous solid blue background.

I've also asked him about getting new glasses because my vision has deteriorated so much that I am having a hard time seeing in my glasses. But when he tests my meters and compares it to my current prescription, he can't improve on it. The issue isn't that my eyesight has gotten worse, it's that seeing with my new contacts has made the world look blurrier when I wear glasses, the same way RDR looks worse now that people have played it in 4K.

It's something we should all consider when discussing graphics and resolutions. What seems like simple math and logic does not always apply to how our brains function. What we want to see, even subconsciously, factors into what we see.

Outstanding post bro. Never thought about it this way but your right. For awhile I had contacts that were a prescription ahead of my glasses. Not a huge difference but just enough that when I'd wear the glasses it seemed way worse lol.

I'm seeing the posts about the enhancements for the Xbox One X. Does this mean there is no enhancement for the standard Xbox One or Xbox One S?

Yeah. Enhancements usually refer to things those consoles can’t handle. 4k assets, hdr etc.

Althoughy some games, like Forza Horizon 3, did get HDR enhanced if you play them on the One S. The OG XB1 doesn't do 4K or HDR.
