Re: Xbox One
My decision to go with the Xbox is for the most part due to knowing there will be a few friends also making the transtition for BF4 and Xbox One online gaming. An improved Kinect is also appealling and sets it apart from PS4. So, like last time it'll be Xbox first and then PS later on.
If the PS4 is truly more powerful and shows better graphics down the road, that's even more reason for me to start with XB1. Then I can enjoy another upgrade in a few years when I get my PS4.
But I think over time the games will look similar on both, about as it is now.Comment

Re: Xbox One
as far as the gap getting wider I doubt that as the system that is harder to develop for will show a larger improvements as they learn the in and outs of the system.Comment

Re: Xbox One
I went back and looked again, it's running on an LG 47LN5400
After the second viewing, I'm convinced that the launch titles/early next gen titles will not be blowing me away on either console. Graphically, I guess my expectations were a little high for this early on. On a smaller monitor, everything looks pretty good. But on the tv, I was less than impressed. From further away, it looks "better", but still very similar to this gen.
Killzone and NBA 2K at least are "true" next gen material. I've also downloaded the 1080p 60fps PS4 BF4 multiplayer video from eurogamer and watched it on my HDTV. Almost can't stand looking at current gen games anymore...Comment

You're right, specs wise PS4 has the distinction of being the more powerful system, but with time developers will get the best out of XB1 and that will narrow. Here's the better thought, in 2 years these launch games will look awful! :-)

Regardless, both systems will look fantastic over the long haul.Comment

Re: Xbox One
IMO from the vids I've seen both consoles are underwhelming visually. I saw a comparison vid of BF4 on current gen vs next gen(for both consoles) and to me it looks similar to when you go from a cheap HDTV to playing on a more expensive one. It's basically the same, but one is more sharp, clean, whatever the word is.
I know developers have barely tapped into the potential of these systems, but I guess I still expected a bigger leap.Indianapolis Colts

Re: Xbox One
Truly, I don't think we will see the true graphics output for at least the first year. Maybe not even until the 360/PS3 are phased out. The developers will get used to things and a couple years from now we will be amazed at the difference from a first year game and a second or third year game.
Lets look at NBA2k Series...
2k6
2k7
2k8
and just for fun jump to 2k12

In all honesty, this was something I was worried about way back since the consoles were announced. There's no way that a game like Battlefield can use the console's potential (graphically, that is. There are a ton of significant upgrades elsewhere) when it has to be able to have all the same things on the 360 and PS3.Writer for Operation Sports
