This is true - I guess I am still reluctant to do that with my consoles after some of the issues from last gen. You make a good point though ODogg.

Your worries are mutual. After last gen there is no way I'd want to keep my system on when I'm not gaming. But I really, really want to use the TV feature, and I know I will want to a lot during sports. Love pwning my game and watching my local sports teams.

My PC is nearly on 10-12 hours each day for past two years...so why can't our consoles do the same and not die on us? You'd think they wouldn't...but consoles seem to do have a high failure rate.

I have a question for anyone that may know - I know that we can't view our HDD space (Seriously, why can't we do this?) so how do I ever know if I'm getting close to using all the space I have with installed games? I'll probably only have about 4-7 games installed at any given time that I'm playing, but it sort of bugs me that I can't view my empty space.

Does anyone know what happens if we get close to using it all? Does it inform me before I try and install a game that may take 40GB but I only have 20GB remaining?

Let's all take comfort in the fact that we keep hearing about the new consoles as being basically PC's dressed up in console clothing. If you think of it that way maybe it doesn't seem as worrisome..

My system was on for 8 hours last night and already 3 this morning. It'll be on all day because I'll be playing games with ESPN football snapped in the corner. Seriously.... This is gaming heaven!

Seriously I don't know if I can ever go back to regular tv again. I've been watch College Gameday snapped with Ryse and Forza all morning.

The only thing I was I could have is sound for one or the other. Is that possible?

Sorry, but for now we do some automatic volume leveling. We're aware this is a feature that users want.

So if I want to watch TV for 2-3 hours at night with my family, then play Xbox One for another 2-3 hours afterwords - my Xbox One has to be on for 6 straight hours??

The Xbox One hardware was designed to be "always on" (whether that's on or standby) continuously for 10 years.

What about that Illumaroom<!--?--> feature?? That looked like the most awesome feature ever but it got delayed, or did it get cut entirely?

No spin or corporate speak here - I literally have no idea what the status of IllumiRoom is. However, it's just a proof of concept from MS Research, which means a bit more will need to happen to make it ready for paying customers.

Illumiroom is a great concept but at this time isn't going to be made into a retail product based on their last statements about it.

Reading through the impressions here. Sure glad I got both consoles from the start. I won't be missing any game this generation. With that said, I'm out of this thread. It's becoming harder and harder to wait til Christmas. Enjoy it fellas!

I always just "Quit" the game when I'm done after I have gone "Home."

Then eject. Is there an eject voice command?

You know what else is stupid, that we still need to buy a charge cable to charge our controllers. It's 2013 Microsoft, I know it's another way to make money, but good gosh, that seems like such a petty thing to me. Give me a cheap cable to recharge my controller with.

Yeah, I understand. People pay for it though, which makes Xbox more profitable. If you weren't paying with Gold, you'd probably be paying some other way.
