Because there are plenty of people out there who will never have any interest in using a gimmick that was forced on them in the box?

Why not get some cash for it, instead of throwing it out/having it sit around collecting dust?

I have to laugh at the notion that people were "forced" to buy a One with Kinect. Had MS continued to say it was a bundle, then maybe I get the frustration, but you shouldn't be calling foul if you bought the system at launch or shortly thereafter.

If it's that big of a deal, and you have that much passion about it, don't buy it for 500 bones then cry foul.

I hate the word gimmick. I wish it was banned. Everything new is a gimmick to people. They call for innovation but then they all jump on the bashing train because it is the cool thing to do. The consumer is at fault for the lack of change in products of all kinds.

Oh, we're in agreement there. The "forced"/bundled Kinect is why I didn't buy my console at launch. I'm waiting until the 9th. It's just part of the early adoption mindset that I'm trying to give a viewpoint of. The same as people crying foul when the system went on sale/Titanfall bundle/etc.

We all but knew before launch that there was going to be a Kinect-less SKU within a year. The writing was on the wall for it.

Disagree here. People want innovation in their games, not alternate ways to play the same games. Of course, generalizations like this don't work. There will always be a market for things like Kinect, PSEye, Oculus Rift and all the other things like that... however it's just not the right field for it.

They're fantastic pieces of technology that should be further developed (see: Kinect usage in the medical field), but it's never going to be a 'big thing' in gaming.

The lack of innovation in the software can be attributed to publishers more than anything else.

You preview the updates before they push them to the general public. Were you expecting something more?
