    Re: Xbox 720

Graphically, I think it is fair to say there won't be a huge difference. But the capabilities of the consoles will definitely be noticeable, and wont be a "marginal upgrade".

And to be honest, I'm not sure people really care about graphics getting a lot better at this point. A marginal upgrade in terms of graphics would be just fine by me.

The things I expect out of these new consoles is not the improved graphics, but better gameplay. Better and more intelligent A.I, consoles being able to handle more events happening on the screen at one time, improved visual effects, etc. With more RAM it opens up endless amounts of possibilities both for sports video games and non sports video games a like.

you should see games with these new console utilizing things like Anti-aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering more, and much better draw distance in games. Games should also be native 1080p instead of 720p upscaled.

so actual texture quality may or may not improve, but overall, it should be a big improvement and look sharper.

Leasing is a real question that needs to be asked. Why would MS sell it for $300 + $240 for Live? You are going to almost be required to get Live, so why would anyone buy the $500 + $100?
Agreed. The math doesn't work. Even using $35 for live a year (which is the usual sale price), that still is (570) higher than the leasing option ($540).

The leasing $300 option should have a higher cost after two years so we obviously do not have all the information or we don't have correct information. Because there is zero reason whatsoever do buy the $500 option with the rumors out there.

It's not just polygons (triangles). It is texture resolution, lighting, real light refraction, shadowing, physics, etc.

At a still screenshot it may not be huge at first, but in motion with all that going on, foliage all moving and reacting on its own, etc.. It is where it will really shine.

Especially with all that proprietary RAM. The texture quality will be a noticeable upgrade.

I think I might be the only human genuinely excited about new consoles lol.

Yeah there's a lot of unknowns and probably details and features not everyone likes but when I think about games now like Skyrim, the Bioshock series, Gears, etc. and just how much content and stuff is packed into those and then what the next gen holds its crazy to me....

Can you imagine what next gen Elder Scrolls, GTA, Halo games are going to be like? It's going to be insane. Not to mention all the sports games...it's just going to be nuts.

              Can't wait....

No you're not. I'm pretty pumped as well. I always get a bit excited for new tech. I just Madden/NCAA gets the love they deserve so I can get a better NFL fix. I liked '13 but am curious how next gen will go.

Can't wait to see E3 and MS 720 announcement.

And I really like my PC gaming also and know the perks etc.. but we really don't need any stuff that will turn into yet another PC vs Console debate...

I definitely get excited. I love the tech side of it and am curious to see what comes next. I am a bit let down by this gen. I was thinking we'd see more progress with things.

But right now I'd really like graphics to take a back seat and see these consoles do more with animation and context. These games can do better with storylines, environments and overall AI.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

Agreed on the above. Our tech is good enough as is right now.

Animation is where games lack. It's like when the graphics progressed they progressed too fast and animation never had a chance. We've only just scratched the surface for it.

I see people complaining about no huge graphic boost. Maybe I'm just old school but I grew up with Super Nintendo an thought that was amazing back then.

Now a days little kids see a old Xbox game an think its the mother if ugly an wouldn't ever play it. Spoiled Spoiled lol

Kotaku rumor: Respawn's new game exclusive to 360 and next Xbox

The long-awaited first game from Respawn Entertainment—the studio helmed by the creators of Call of Duty—will be exclusive to the next-gen Xbox, according to two unrelated sources familiar with the game. One of our sources indicates that there will also be an Xbox 360 version, but no versions for rival PlayStation and Nintendo consoles.
The new game from Respawn is a futuristic multiplayer-centric online shooter, one of our sources says. The source describes the game as a battle of Davids and Goliaths. The Davids are heavily-armed foot soldiers. The Goliaths are the giant exosekeltons—Titans—that these soldiers can pilot. These Titans are big mech-style walkers that move with an agility not seen in games like Mechwarrior or Steel Battalions.

To keep the action balanced, game maps limit the number of Titans that can be used in a skirmish. Weapon loadouts for the foot soldiers are designed to ensure that the characters on foot can take out the Titans if need be. The source who described the game does not work at Respawn, but their description tracks with the long-reported desire by the former Infinity Ward team to make a sci-fi shooter.
An Xbox-only Respawn game would be a coup for Microsoft and a fascinating twist to a number of significant sagas. It has implications for publisher EA's rivalry with Call of Duty publisher Activision; for Microsoft's competition with Sony and, less directly with Nintendo; as well as for the ongoing debate about always-online gaming. Two sources have told us that this new game is, in fact, always-online.
                                ...

We've heard from other sources that Microsoft is not where they want to be at this point in the pre-launch development of Durango. A reliable source—one who was not part of our reporting about the Respawn game—tells us that Microsoft is as much as six months behind in producing content for the new console, despite an expected late-2013 launch. Another tells us that Microsoft recently cancelled several internal next-gen projects because they were not coming together as hoped. These sources have told us that, comparatively, Sony is in better shape and further along with hardware and software development for PlayStation 4.
We'd also heard from an industry insider that Microsoft was aggressively trying to sign exclusive games for Durango. Given the lack of internal development at Microsoft—their internal studios, while talented, are outnumbered by those of Sony and Nintendo—and given some of the apparent recent stumbles and slowdowns internally, signing an exclusive Respawn-EA game would suit the Durango quite well.
