Yeah, there are plenty of holes in that list... a handful of them not even released/very niche games, I have over $3k in games on Steam yet a franchise I've never heard of - Blacklight Retribution - is being compared to games like Uncharted and the Mario franchise as exclusives to boast about... some franchises haven't been relevant for a while like Age of Empires.

Week 1 sales of MW3? over 9 million on the HD consoles. 370k between Wii and PC. PCs have been a great idea in living rooms every since the proliferation of flat panel TVs, but consoles 'just work' and will continue to be a very profitable venture for those who are successful against the competition in that space (MS, Nintendo this gen).

Age of Empires Online just released

Second I wasn't comparing "AAA" quality. I was stating that saying consoles have more exclusives is false. Now while PC might have more niche titles, that is very easy defend-able because PC user base is more niche. But that is not necessarily a bad thing if you enjoy niche titles. For instance I love RTSs

Plus the list of just a collaboration of titles off the top of my head and some quick research of PC exclusives coming out this year.

Yeah, it's been in Beta for more than 2 years, was in it when it was called Spartan. It's not for me, unlike the RTS games prior to it. It might as well be called something else.

Meanwhile, almost every game that gets heavy marketing is a console game because of the ROI, and that console's port - returning to the point - will likely be handicapped on PCs because of the current generation of console hardware. Some franchises will continue to be nearly ruined by the dumbing down of titles to try and tap into that success as well (Supreme Commander 2, Dungeon Siege III I am looking at you).

Yeah, I dont see how they would be able to pull this off. I mean I travel a lot and carry my xbox with me sometimes. So they are trying to tell me that I can only play my box if its connected to the internet? Sounds like a potential cluster #$#$

Did someone from IGN read my post and create a rumor for PS4?

The PlayStation 4, reportedly codenamed Orbis, may utilize custom chips based on AMD's A8-3850 APU and Radeon HD 7670 GPU, sources have told IGN, offering the combined performance of both integrated and discrete graphics processors.

If true, even with a closed architecture (consoles), I don't see it offering a generational leap over the PS3. It's also a very similar set-up that's being rumored for the next Xbox.

I know fanboys would weep, but I certainly wouldn't be shocked if the PS4 or next Xbox weren't generational leaps over their predecessors.

No joke IGN has been taking various rumors and posts from people of late creating these so called reports on their site. Read the comments on some of these with people calling them out .

It would still be a five generations newer GPU, faster processor, more ram. It would 100% be a generational leap.

Re: Both PS4 and XBOX3 to be shown at E3

I must say that I'm becoming a bit disturbed about the news in the new consoles. It's actually got me to thinking about how I've changed as a gamer in the past five years. There was a point that every year, I would buy either Madden or NCAA Football, NCAA Basketball or NBA Basketball, Baseball every year, and a number of other sports titles as well as other games. This past year, I bought MLB the Show, MW3, and NTG 2011 (returned). Is there even a point in console gaming for me now?

I used to have a gaming computer. Heck, I built the dang thing from the first checks that I got with my first job. It sucked. I didn't know what the hell I was doing, but I built it and by the grace of God I got it to run Battlefield 2 (on lower textures I'll give you that). However it was some of the best times I had gaming because of the options that I had.

Gaming is becoming part of what a majority of people do. What was once considered fodder for young kids or geeks is now something everybody is associated with. It looks like both systems are going to aim for these markets by making the simplest options possible.

That doesn't automatically equal a generational leap. It would be nowhere near the leap the PS3 and 360 made, and they were cutting edge for their time, while this is already dated. It's only going to take that much more raw computing power to show leaps going forward, and with talks of 1080p resolution, good luck with that with similar chipsets to this IGN rumor.

This is a DRM measure that should really only require registering a game's serial number and tying it to a gametag or console. Once validated, you wouldn't need a constant connection.

I just think this is greed fueled stupidity for consoles that will bite them in the ***. Something like 25% of 360's don't even connect to the internet, and renting and sharing games have been around pretty much as long as consoles have been.

Gamestop may be an evil company, but the industry won't admit how there's plenty of people that subsidize new purchases by trading or selling the games they're done with.

This will work like Steam, buying physical PC games, or even online passes. You get a code in the box of each game and the code will most likely tie to your gamertag/PSN ID and access to the internet long enough to register the code so you can't sell the game back. It seems like were heading down the road the PC took many years ago with consoles.

The way it is with consoles and lack of digital sales I'll really be selective on what I buy since I do like to trade games back in. I guess things can't stay the same forever and either we learn to adapt or just move on to another hobby.

The interesting thing is that both the Xbox and Playstation will be rumored to come out within months of each other so it doesn't hurt to wait and see how both pan out before investing in either console.

I'm going to go back to what we talked about earlier in that the game developers have to step up this next generation. That's not to say we haven't seen quality games out, but for what ever reason, games haven't really peaked this gen.

There hasn't been this sense that something new came along that really shifted the market. I think the next gen is on the backs of the developers to really start being more innovative in ways that truly change gaming for the better.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.
