    PS3 Controller

The left analog stick popped out(I tried putting it back in,but it seems like I can't do it) so I decided to unscrew the back and see how I could fix it.

I managed to unscrew 4 of the 5 screws. But of course, the final screw is the one that I can't get out(it's the longer one on the handle). Don't know if it's damaged or not(I think it might be).

I'm using those jeweler's screwdrivers to get it out. I've gotten the first 4 out using the screwdriver but I can't get the 5th out. Any ideas? Or maybe even ideas on how to fix the analog stick without unscrewing it(if possible).

I would suggest going to youtube and looking for tutorials there, because there are tons of them.

      Re: PS3 Controller

I took it apart, but now I don't know how to reconnect the triggers to that green film thing. On the videos I've seen on youtube, the triggers always seem to be connected, even when someone takes it apart, so don't know how to fix it.

They are a pain if they do that. You can try to slip the film back in, but it's pretty tedious. Easiest way is to just take the trigger apart.

        1. Pull the metal pin, making sure you don't lose the spring and take the thing all the way apart.

        2. Put the film in place on the plastic base, put rubber on top of that, next feed the pin back through the holes in the base with the spring in place

        3. The trigger will clip back onto the pin.

        4. Be careful putting it back into the controller, once the film comes out it seems it tends to slip out easily (never tried it, but a small bit of double sided tape between the film and the plastic base might be a good idea).

          Re: PS3 Controller

The triggers are already completely apart.

The hard part I'm having is putting the film on the base and getting the rubber things onto the film and connect that on the base.

I can connect the trigger to the base easily, but it's connecting everything else to that base which is hard

            Re: PS3 Controller

On my oldest dual shock the little pad under the ribbon contact point for the buttons got compressed so that it wasn't registering button presses correctly. Anyway, long story short, getting those triggers back together was the biggest pain in the *** of the whole operation.

As with any frustrating task, walk away for a bit and come back to it.

              Re: PS3 Controller

I might just buy a new controller and save all that time lol. Already spent a few hours and couldn't get it.

Normal ps3 controller costs like $55 but I've seen some that are as little as $25 so hopefully when I go to get it, the store has it.

                  Re: PS3 Controller

What are knockoff brands then? Cause the store I'm going to is an independent game store(though all the games there are sold normally like any store would sell it), so if they do have controllers(I'm hoping they do), I'll know which ones to buy.

These are ones I've seen that I might get:
                  http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ...fcd46979c0en02

This one is the standard ps3 controller:
                  http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ...ebc47cd4b6en02

Right now, everything works, except the trigger buttons. Is there an alternate method of getting them to work(like replacing those 1 and 2 trigger buttons with something else)?

That urban camo one is official, $40 is a common sale price. Just don't get one of the $25 3rd party brands.

Edited my previous post. 3rd party is the Intec and Dreamgear. I wouldn't buy those.

                          Re: PS3 Controller

If that's all the store I'm going to has, then it doesn't matter lol. But I'll try and just spend the most then.

Any suggestions on what to do with the trigger buttons then? Cause the "base" that holds the green data tape/rubber thing and connects the R/L2 button doesn't seem like it'll work out for me, so I need another way to use the triggers(maybe not even using the default R2/L2 buttons)

They are knockoffs, so they brand them Sony. They are all over the place under $30. For instance (and you are guaranteed it's fake since Sony never made them in orange):

                              Re: PS3 Controller

Managed to get a used one for only $25(normally costs $55 new as it's the default ps3 controller)

Had to clean it cause it was dirty, but hopefully it lasts. Only thing is that I wanna switch out some of the parts on this controller(such as the analog sticks, the front plate on the controller) but I sorta don't want to just incase something happens to it(the store I got it at didn't have anymore)
