The Ouya: A $99 Open, Hackable Console
Set-top boxes have come a long way in a very short time. With the Apple TV you can stream any of your content straight from your iOS devices, and Google TV lets you interface with many of your apps on your HDTV. But, what any gamer can tell you is what these set-top boxes have been missing: An impressive gaming experience.Tags: None -

What I find most intriguing is only a 1 Gig of Ram?? Everything else looks good and reasonable for the specs & design decision. I just find the 1 Gig of ram really undercutting it. Ram is very inexpensive and throwing in a 4 gig stick would cost a manufacturer MAYBE 5 bucks per console.
The quad core is pretty impressive for a $99 dollar machine, but I think my next question would be what is the video card??
I still think it is a cool idea and will be following it, just found that one area strange and the other odd there is no specs listed.Comment

My concern is, will these still be Android/iOS quality games? Yes, there are some very unique apps out there, and games that look great for what they are, but they are hardly sit on your couch for hours on end experiences.
For cell phones and tablets, these games are fantastic, but I'd need a lot more to throw them on my big screen and give them precedence over my PS3.Comment

My concern is what is the point if I already have a PC? Just to have a cheap, mod enabled console?Comment

I'm leary due to the "Free to play" claim.
When looking deeper into it, it says
There will be free demos gamers can play and with full games there will be DLC they can buy. (Or something to that effect)
Need to see the kind of $ the DLC is and make sure the "Full" games aren't really short and to get the full experience you have to buy $40.00 of DLC. (just throwing out a number)
We'll see. Certainly will follow thisJoshua:

People will get some use out of this, I just have my doubts it will be for any worthwhile gaming and it might not end up the best device for other uses (media, web, etc). I see a lot of people putting ridiculous hopes and aspirations towards this thing that it couldn't possibly ever meet, and people getting caught up in these pipe dreams and hype I can't imagine not being disappointed.Comment

IMO it doesn't make sense to get in now...the system will be under 100 when it drops anyways, and I don't care about the username reservation stuff.
Why not wait to see the games that come out for it first? Just don't see the need to Kickstart this, but then again many kickstarters are just a waste of money.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment
