Can't set up Windows Media Extender with XBox 360???

Ok so here's the deal folks....

I have a Dell XPS 15z laptop running Windows 7 with Windows Firewall and a linksys EA4500 router.

I'm pulling my hair out trying to get my Windows Media Center set up with my Xbox 360 and to no avail.

    Just FYI....

    1. I keep getting this image when trying to set up the extender...

    2. I have already connected an ethernet cable from my PC to my Xbox and it still can't communicate between each other. *IE I've tried to see if they can communicate if they are hardwired together...nope*

    3. Whenever I go to my Firewall settings, the "Media Center Extenders" box for Work/Private is ALWAYS unchecked...even if I go in and manually change it to checked...it goes right back to unchecked.

    4. I've tried turning off the firewall completely...and it still won't connect. So I'm assuming it has to do with the router settings?

Is it the firewall? Is the the router? I'm lost.

I have no 3rd party firewall running. I don't have any router settings that I've changed other than the quick setup during installation and have my 360, PS3, and PC all running on the router fine.

But I can't get the damn Windows Media Center to work!!! Someone help a brotha out please.

I'm pretty sure you're supposed to connect the pc and 360 to the router, not to each other.

Have you tried following those directions?

They're on the same router. I tried hardwiring the connection between the two instead of through a router to see if they could communicate...didn't work.

Go to your services on your computer and make sure the media extender service is running.
