I know the transfer process on the 360 is pretty straight forward you just buy the transfer cable and hook it up. Is there anything like that for the ps3? How exactly do I go about transferring all of my data to a new system?

PS3 transfer data
I bought the 160gb ps3 slim about 2 years ago. I'm considering getting the new 500gb ps3 that comes with assassins creed when it comes out. I don't want to lose all of my old save data from my current ps3 (I plan on trading this one in).

Re: PS3 transfer data
I think a previous firmware update allowed for one-to-one transferring between consoles. I don't remember what you have to plug in to make it work, though (like a transfer cable). Maybe it was a cloud storage thing.
If that doesn't work out, an external HDD will do.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60 -

Re: PS3 transfer data
Plug both into the wall, connect them with an ethernet cable, hook the PS3 you want to transfer from (PS3A) to the TV (you can hook both up on seperate inputs, and probably easier in the long run, but not necessary if you don't have the extra cables/inputs).
Update PS3A and PS3B firmware so they are the same.
On PS3A, deactivate it through account management, sync trophies. In the system settings on PS3A, go to data transfer utility in the system settings, follow onscreen prompts.
Don't get discouraged if it fails to connect the first time, it's kind of finicky when the two systems connect, just try again until it goes through. When I did it, first failed, I changed cables, failed again, then I spent a half hour googling trying to see what I did wrong, then it worked the third time without changing a thing.Comment
