Is this update only for that one specific headset ? Or is it adding other headsets as well ?

I still have my official PS3 bluetooth headset that works perfectly fine and I want to continue to use it.

Yes. But I think there's some sort of glitch where it kicks you out of your franchise after the game without saving if you do that.

1.60 is out now. Does anyone know if the firmware adds anything else besides headset support? As I thought it was said mp3 support was supposed to come in this update as well along with a few other things. Would be very lame update if nothing else is added but I'm glad to be able to use my good headset again but ordered the new one announced as well cuz my nephew plays with me from time to time and he loves using headsets as do I.. so any news on mp3 support if it was secretly added in or no? What else is new?

Only thing online I could find was this...

PS4 firmware update tomorrow (v1.60) bringing Pulse Headset support, general stability improvements and ability to mute camera.

I couldn't find any other specifics online as of this post.

Virtual Surround sound is one. Also plug your headphones into DSS or something similar and then plug it into your controller. You can hear the difference.

I hated up until now being tethered to my controller. Sometimes I may want to get up and grab a drink or some food or something, and sucked having to take off the headphones or carry the controller over to the kitchen with me. Maybe not a big deal for some but I am very glad I will be able to now use my Pulse Elites Wirelessly. Also the virtual surround sound was not able to be used with the headset plugged directly into the controller.

So with this update I no longer need that damn annoying chat cable I ordered from Turtle Beach that connects to my DS4?

This would be much needed and very awesome if so.

Someone wrote this regarding Bluetooth

1) The PS headsets are wi-fi so they can be used with any number of devices that have USB ports.
2) They are not Bluetooth, and the Bluetooth version on PS3/PS4 is not up to snuff for audio. It’s an older version, most efficient for use with controllers, not other types of content.
3) The Vita’s wi-fi is for connecting to the internet and can’t be used to connect to headsets at the same time. Also doesn’t have a USB port to connect the dongle to, and doesn’t support Bluetooth either, so give up on waiting for a wireless headset for it.
4) Yes, the update will work with all three headsets. They listed three and they only have three, though they originally called the first one “wireless stereo headset”.
5) The Gold headset is not the same as the ELITE for $50 less. From the description, they seem to be missing the Bass Impact feature, at least.
6) This update was promised “shortly after the beginning of the year”, but took over a month. For those of us who want our NEXT-GEN SYSTEMS to work with our headsets.

That was just some poster, but I'm assuming this means the BT you have still wont work.

An update to the PlayStation 4 system software was released on 4 February 2014. If you update your PS4 system, the system software version will be 1.60 and the following features will be updated.
Main features in system software update version 1.60

• Picture quality during DVD playback has been improved.
• Wireless stereo headsets (CECHYA-0080 / CECHYA-0083 / CECHYA-0086) are now supported.
• You can now mute the microphone for the PlayStation Camera.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something about what he's saying but I use bluetooth earbuds all the time on my Vita.

Well this is a bummer. Time to make a different account. Playstation Life Style has updated information regarding War Thunder

We’ve got a mix of good news and bad news when it comes to War Thunder, with the good news being that the PS4 and PC Cross Play patch has been approved by Sony. The bad news on this is that, due to a Sony rule, any future updates for War Thunder are essentially on hold, as a member of the War Thunder team explained on the forums:

When Gaijin Entertainment announced War Thunder release for the next-gen PlayStation 4 console, we were going to give pilots using PC and PS4 the ability to play with each other. We are still dedicated to this goal.

The game update that will fully synchronize the versions and enable the cross-play function has already been developed and approved by Sony Computer Entertainment. Unfortunately, SOE didn’t finalize its PS4 patching system, and the current one makes its users download all the previously released patches even if we only release a minor one. This basically prohibits us from releasing any new War Thunder content until Sony Computer Entertainment changes this rule.

So as soon as the PS4 patching system gets fixed, we will release the update and do our best to make War Thunder the first PS4 cross-play game ever.

Asked whether this means there won’t be any major PS4 patches until the issue is fixed, White_bada of Gaijin said, “Yes, quite likely . It does not depend on us at this point. And no online game can afford to force its users download the same several Gb of data over and over again.”

White_bada continued by talking about unfair advantages/disadvantages that may pop up when PS4 and PC players play against each other:

They will play the same game. And if we find that certain platform gives its users any advantage, we will do our best to fix it.

<b>The news gets worse for those in North America who have been waiting for the game,</b> as the War Thunder Twitter account confirmed that “it is already released in the Europe (you can play). We are working with SCEA to make it happen in the USA too. No date, sadly.” If you want a reason for the holdup, @WarThunder suggests you “try to politely ask SCEA. I am sure whatever holds it – will be resolved soon.”

We’ll let you know once Gaijin is able to release the PS4 and PC Cross Play patch for War Thunder, as well as when they date the North American version of the game.
