If a game is 2-years old, it is not worth $60.

Of course not but new they are. I buy most of my games used for 10-15 bucks. Older games closer to 5.

I just picked up spare copies of MLB 9-12 new for 5-12 bucks each. Should I have had to pay 60 bucks for those games?

You should have left '09, '10 and '11 on the shelf. But that's a different story.

Just curious why one would buy 4 version's of old sports games? Unless you like collect them or something. It's hard enough for me to find time to play the most recent, let alone a 4 year old version of the same game + every year in between.

The thing that most fail to understand in these discussions of new vs. used, is when you buy a game, you do not "own" it.

You are purchasing a licensing right to play said game. It says that in every game TOS since Nintendo created licensing. So comparing a car, which is an object you own, to a licensed product is apples to oranges.

It just has never been enforced. It is a tough subject, because I do believe they should get something. EB Games does push their used over new, which undercuts the industry, that we ALL want to see sustained growth in. Especially when they profit 400% in most cases.

Makes it hard for publishers to justify supporting a game series or developer house of a new game when 2.5-3 million copies were "sold", yet the publisher saw only 1 million since 500k was recycled several times over.

Games should also be priced accordingly as well. A turd or a semi turd is not $60. And I think we have seen a reflection of that this current generation with game sales being more frequent than ever in gaming history.

Gamestop is the middle man, and this is like shooting at him but hitting the customer standing behind him. There has to be a way to work with them and make it palatable besides trying to double up on the customers who are hardly at fault in this situation.

Whoever you are make your money, but dont screw people over to get there

Agreed, thus the agreement has to be made with them. Especially when they shoot the industry by pushing used over new.

                    It is catch 22.

I got all of them used and play all of them all the time. I have tons of rosters for each. If the discs die I wanted to still have access to the games. Only cost like 22 bucks for all four of them.

Wouldn't a couple of bucks per game sold used be a reasonable fee to pay to the devs/pubs? I would have no problem paying that.

Just imagine buying a game like college hoops 2k8 then having to pay 45 dollars to use it

                          That's insanity.

Again, that would fall on the used game pusher and the insane profit margins. If the publishers work it out to be like $5 for a used game that is within a certain timeline, whatever the used game pushes up-charges, is more on them.

You had to use that example? I feel like 2K8 is $45 or more everywhere you go.

Used game market is bananas on that title.

But I get what you're saying. The game would cost $100.

No, and that's the point that people are trying to get at.

We should not have to pay $60 for a game that is 2-,3-,4-years old.. Just because of some bull**** fee they want us to pay for buying a used game.
