Not everyone here is a PC gamer but if everyone got a taste of Steam sales, humble bundles, and the many other online sales of PC titles. People would be begging to get rid of the used game market if it meant the new game market saw a dramatic decrease in release costs and then fantastic sales with in several months after release.
While I openly support the used game market, I would quickly call for it being shutdown if that meant steam like handling of digital purchases graced our consoles. It is a win win for everyone but the used game retailers. Publishers have reduced cost from lack of expenses of game cases, insert literature, production of physical disks, and shipping costs around the country and world. Then the consumers get the benefit of instant purchases over online plus with great reduces in price on new games.
If I would predict anything I'd say consoles are going to make some changes similar to steam at some point. It just makes the most sense across the board.
