My question is - have any of you done this and if so what value can I expect in terms of having to pay anything on top of the trade etc.?

Can you hear the PS4 running - is it noisy?
    Does it get really warm/hot?
Does the controller in the box come only with an internal battery - IE is that the only option? (I'm using great rechargeable AA's with the xbox one.
How is the Wifi? I find it very impressive the the xbone and can only use that with my current setup to play online, so does the ps4 have the chops to play bf4 online via wifi?

I also saw interesting video on youtube comparing bf4 between the 2 systems, the xbone actually had much more detail because of the higher contrast, but I have that game and notice that in dark areas it's REALLY dark and hard to see (mentioned by others as well) and some bright areas are practically blown out. I was really surprised to see more detail, but on the sharing videos from both systems my overall impression just taking it in as a whole is that the ps4 share vids look more impressive. Is there a difference in draw distance while sniping for example? Does anyone own it for both?
Maybe the xbone has more texture mapping software, but the ps4 has better overall performance such as anti-aliasing?? It's strange to me

I see that it has netflix as well, so besides the few downloaded arcade games I have, I don't think I'll be out too much cash.

There is also a really stupid rumour out there saying MSoft is forcing 3rd party developers to keep games looking relatively the same across all platforms holding the ps4 back. I doubt that's true because I don't see how they could really enforce that....

In anycase, it's not that I'm not happy with the xbone, I just want change and to play things I missed out on like last of us and just have a more future-proof system. I have a really nice 1080p LED TV and don't like the fact that in many cases I'll be playing games at 720p ... I know it's not everything but it's 2014 dammit! I want my TV to be running on all cylinders.
I also bought a turtle beech xo 4's and might see if I can trade at least the adapter in too - can I use the headset and mic simply by plugging it into the ps4 controller?

Any thoughts or advice is appreciated, no rush I'm looking to do this over the next month or so...
Great post and real in depth questions.

I'm only gonna address your BF4 question since I have more hours (probably) logged on BF4 than anyone on OS lol.

I play BF4 on my PS4 over WiFi, near 1000 hrs and never a problem in that regard.

u can buy a rechargeable pack that hooks onto your controller

far as wi-fi I haven't had any problems I had mine hooked up to a ethercord but I wanted to play out in living room and the cord wouldn't reach so I hooked it to wi-fi and no problems.

No the PS4 is not noisy, like at all. When I was at a friend's house, I played his Xbox One and I didn't notice it to be noisy either so it is probably a good comparison. If you don't think the One is noisy then you won't think the PS4 is noisy.

I can't answer your question about how hot it gets because I haven't touched it after a playthrough.

There is an internal battery in the controller that you can charge through the console via USB. I thought someone posted that Sony put together an extended battery, but that may have been for the Wii U and I'm getting confused. There is a Nyko power pack, but I've heard it is clunky and can get in the way.

You shouldn't have any problem playing online through wifi on the PS4 if you don't with the One. if the signal strength is good, you should be good.

EDIT: That was XO7, you said XO4. Apologies.

Looking into this monitor. Still going to do some research.
Same and also this, since BenQ ratio is 1000 only.

Ok...I'm not the brightest when it comes to technology and phones/apps and the like so question.

How does the syncing/connecting your PS4 to your phone with the PS4 work? What does it do?

Looks okay, but it would match nothing in my living room. And I care about that kind of stuff.

u can also use it as a second screen for certain video games like madden etc.

I love gaming on a monitor vs. a TV... I started gaming on a PC when I was a kid, so I think I am just more comfortable with that kind of setup.

I have an ASUS MX279H 27" IPS monitor that is absolutely fantastic for being under $300. I have it set up next to a 27" iMac, so my ASUS is hooked up to my PS3 & PS4 via HDMI, and serves as a second monitor to my iMac via a VGA cable.

It's great to be able to browse OS, keep tabs on Twitter, watch games on MLB.tv, all while gaming on the second monitor. I don't think I could ever go back to the ol' couch-and-TV setup.

go to the ps store find the game or demo u want of course if its a whole game u would have to buy it....then it will take u through steps and it will bring u to the page that says d/l to your ps4... click that then it will say waiting then will say d/ling.

and u all set.... just remember to leave your ps4 in standby mode and when u get home the game will be installed on your system ready for u to play.
