I'm sorry but that's not remotely close to being the same thing.

Your setup would drive me crazy. Id have to go out and get a wireless router or something.

My setup would drive you crazy? Wow. I spent a combined 30 minutes last night connecting my PS4 to my modem, downloading, installing, going through the settings and whatnot and checking out the PS store which was at least 2/3rd the time as I was looking for playable demos but sadly, nothing there that I wanted to try.

Do you turn your fridge off when you leave the house? That's a lot better comparison than light bulbs.

Fridge has food in it. Why would I want my food that cost money to go to waste? I'm going to keep my PS4 on ALL DAY just to download and install updates that take 5 minutes to do?

I just don't see the point in leaving my PS4 (or any electric device for that matter) on when im not using it. Fridge is the lone exception because I don't want my food to go bad.

Youtube kept on giving me errors as well, when I just tried right now it told me that feature was unavailable. Maybe they've figured it out?

Well, im assuming that 2.0 bricked my console by screwing up the disc drive as it keeps spinning every 10-15 seconds despite the fact that there's no disc inside and I tried putting The Evil Within disc in and it won't go in at all. It sits there half way and then comes out like normal.

I tried everything including safe mode but nothing works. I'm trying to find update 1.76 to see if that somehow fixes the problem but I can't seem to find it and my friend said that you can't go back in regards to updates but I don't know how true that is.

Thankfully, I have the two year warranty for the console at gamestop and will be bringing it back tomorrow for a brand new one.

Damn consoles being computers.

Only real issues I've had is the issues coming out of rest mode.

Had to kill the power to my PS4 earlier to get it back on.

Looks like I may have to start shutting it off, which sucks. I love rest/standy mode. My updates are always ready to install when I turn my PS4 on after work.

I hope Sony releases an update soon because it seems like it's happening to many people on Gaf too. I left my ps4 on stand by and I haven't turned it back on to see if it affected my console too. I'll find out in a few when I get home.

I always turn off my PS4 simply because I don't see the point in keeping it on stand by, rest mode or whatever. I'm not using it so why leave it on? That's like saying, well, I won't be home the entire day and neither will anyone else but what the hell, im going to leave all my lights on just for the hell of it. LOL.

Another reason why I will never ever use stand by / rest mode is simple - my PS4 isn't connected to my modem and thus, im not online so regardless, it's not going to download a damn thing for me. When I need to go online with PS4, I take the Ethernet cable that's already plugged in, untie it and bring over ten feet to where my modem is, connect it, turn it on and after a few minutes, I turn on my PS4. If I need to download anything like I did last night, it will do it. Downloading and installing update 2.0 took 5 minutes combined. Not a big deal whatsoever.

But to each his / her own.

Maybe some people don't want to wait for updates to download when they turn on their consoles. It's more convenient to just come home and start playing right away.

I don't see how leaving a console in stand by is anywhere near the same thing as leaving the lights on in the house when you're away. There's no benefit at all to that. It uses little to no energy in standby, puts no wear and tear on the console, and makes life more convenient for me. Nothing is worse than coming in from a 16 hour day on the ship just to play a game of FIFA, Madden, etc. and be prompted to download a ****ing update.

I have so little free time as it is, those minutes are too valuable to lose.

I think it's crazier that someone disconnects their internet from their console every time they stop using it, unless it's a trip hazard in the room and if so, there's still a plethora of connectivity options.

I was able to finally link my ps4 to my youtube account last night but wasn't able to upload a video. At least I was able to link my account so it is a step in the right direction.

I put mine in full off mode last night when I stopped playing. When I went to turn it on from rest mode it did the beep and the controller came on, but the PS4 remained in rest mode. I had to hold down the power button and then start from complete power off.

I'm having the same issue like others, when I put my PS4 in rest mode after the update I can't get it to turn back on. Frustrating as I always kept it in rest/standby mode.

NICE, My phone would not charge anymore from the USB and I was stumped. This explains it now!!!!!!!!
