I pre-ordered from Amazon.

NBA 2K14 and Watch Dogs are no-brainer first day buys. They should keep me occupied for awhile.

It's possible I won't be able to resist something else though. I'm watching FIFA, Madden, BF4, and The Division closely.

they are taking a hit on the machine, but if you sell more boxes + new required PS+ for online gaming, they can take money from M$ and make it back with all their first party games

The name of the game is market share. Sony realizes from their failures with the PS3 launch, that the goal isn't to make money off of the machines themselves like it was for past generations. The goal is to simply get the machines in the house, and if they have to take a bit of an initial hit to do so, so be it.

Between 1st party games, online subscriptions, and various liscensing fee's, there's a lot of revenue streams to be had. But only if you can get the console in the house first. Once you buy it, you'll have it for a long time.

It's not about capitalizing on the initial purchase, its about generating revenue for the 10 years afterwards.

That said, 2 of the major factors for gaining early market share are price and release date. Sony already has the price covered, and I fully expect them to release on or before the 360 date. They'd be fools if they let xbox jump the gun on that one (that said, if for some reason the hardware isn't ready and they try to jump the gun anyway and release w/ some stupid issue, it would be terrible for them).

Well this day seems to have been a homerun for Sony and the PS4. That 399$ price point is very intriguing. I still hate the controllers though.

No guarantee. If Sony doesnt ship enough, people will get pushed back. This always happens with new releases. Thats why I've preordered two places.

Kingdom Hearts III (finally), the fact that MGS5 (?) along with the announcement of Battlefront has made this a very memorable E3 for me. I'm so excited to purchase a PS4 and go back to the Sony side of things. I'm not even annoyed about paying for PS + if it will help keep Sony's servers sharp. Now time for some live demos to whet my appetite...

Question: Did Sony mention anything about improved servers? If I'm paying I don't want to wait 4-6 hours for updates and downloads like PS3.

If you have Prime you get release-day shipping, and Amazon is really good about their shipping. Other than that I don't know how the supply/demand will factor in (that is, will Sony ship enough units to cover all the pre-orders).

Hoping I'm stationed in a situation where I can get some time in. I won't match the time i have in BF3, though.

Maybe its just me but the download time on the 3 is much improved for me.
