It's exciting to think about new consoles, however I'm really backing off. This generation was a flop imo. It can't hold a candle to the 360 gen. I won't buy a new console unless I see ample evidence of a plethora of great games (I like). OR it's the most cost effective way to view 4k content once I've upgraded to a 4k panel. I almost bought the vizio m65,...

I think games just keep getting more expensive and less chances are taken. The indie games are cool, but only a few shine.

Not trying to knock anyone or convince you that you shouldn't enjoy this gen, it's just my opinion. Super Mega Baseball, BF4 and Last of Us are my fav games this gen - one is arcade title, the other is actually from last gen! lol

If the PS4 Neo (or whatever it's called) supports 4K, I'll definitely be in. I'll be upgrading to a 4K projector with tax return money.

the ps neo /Xbox Scorpio reminds a lot of the PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles. Those systems promised 1080p gaming but most games were upscaled .

I wouldn't be surprised to see all games at 1080p/60 fps for the new systems but upscaled to 4K.

Who knows though . It'll be cool either way.

Who knows though . It'll be cool either way.

Early documents (Neo) show there is a 'checkered-board' technique to 'up-render' into 4K to give very similar visual results (built into the SDK), be more efficient on processing that straight up native 4K, yet still look better than just the already nice looking 1080p (since it scales evenly) to 4K upscaling through the TV scalers.

Similar to probably how they are able to get the 1080p up-render/reconstruction of the PS2 games on the PS4 and they look very crisp compared to just having the OG resolution upscaled through a scaler chip.

If it gives similar results visually, and allows for better graphical effects and performance, bring it on.

There are some rumors that the main packages for PS Vue will be discounted if you have PS Plus. I wonder if that's why they are increasing the price.

Predicting all this stuff is half the fun. Love all the speculation and rumors. It makes it a lot more interesting and reminds me of wrestling back in the day before the internet when wrestlers would jump ship and you try to find out why they decided to do so. Kind of the same thing. We're not doing anything that other sites or writers or whoever are doing. Everyone is doing the same thing. Besides, it would be boring just sitting here waiting as opposed to conversing with others.

Yeah predicting stuff is all we really have to do in till we get real news.

It appears that the slim is going to be a cheaper replacement for the base PS4 as the base PS4 is sold out in Japan and is no longer being manufactured. This makes a lot more sense now. To me, it was weird having the base, slim and then Neo all at the same time. Microsoft is a different situation though. First, the slim and Scorpio is 15 months apart and second, Microsoft doesn't have anything to lose at this point. Sony does.

Wii U had better games until 2015. Bloodborne and especially The Witcher 3 ended that for Wii U. Now, it's not even close. PS4/Xbox One easily blows away Wii U. Everyone hates it when a game gets delayed. I was pissed when Horizon got delayed but im hoping that the delay makes it a classic. My number one wish for the rest of this gen is for publishers to following Fallout 4 and Watch Dogs 2. Announcement, trailer, gameplay video, game is in your hands in six months.

ROTTR has a few snowy areas. One thing that's awesome is when you kill an enemy in the snow, he eventually sinks and gets buried by the snow. Such an awesome detail. October is going to be awesome!!!

I think the slim will be 250-300 more likely 300 and NEO 400. I have never played Bloodborne or witcher and have no interest in them either. The best excusive game on ps4 is Ratchet and clank. Wii u Splatoon, Wonderful 101, DK tropical freeze, Star fox are all better then most of the exclusives on ps4 so far but I am also like one of only like 5 people that think wii u was a good system and much better then the wii ever was. I have 13 games on the wii u only had like 5 on wii and never cared for motion controls and like the game pad more. PS4 I have 10 games so far. 6 months would be nice makes the want a lot easier and I am looking forward to Horizon a lot. ROTTR I like the sound of having Snowy areas as I love Snow even though I hate cold winter weather lol. I didn't know about that detail but that is awesome!

Yep. It creates conversation, debate and makes things interesting especially now since the summer is always slow for games.

Nintendo just doesn't give me the overall package that Sony and Microsoft does. I love and respect Nintendo but as of right now, im just not interested in owning their consoles.

Ten games for PS4 isn't bad. I have eight or so but the majority are PSN/Indie games since I don't collect physical games anymore. I do have two digital games - The Witcher III and The Last of Us. I'm hyped for Horizon and eventually God of War IV and Days Gone among others.

I hate the winter. New York can get bad with the snow but thankfully, not as bad as other states. ROTTR is a must play in my opinion. Hope you play it and enjoy it because it's an excellent game.

And smallville, Sony has confirmed a pre-TGS press conference for Monday September 13th. Sony will most likely have a second press conference during TGS as well but this hasn't been confirmed yet.

Funny thing about summer and it being slow for gamers is I have a lot more time to play video games during the summer then I do the rest of the year because I have no NBA, NFL or NHL to watch. So really video games is all I have to do lol. Yeah I think those ps4 slim and NEO price is going to be what we see. Funny thing is you said about not having auto save and I hate auto save in games because I hate that a lot of games with auto save will make multiple files and I hate that if you mess up you cant go back.


Well I love Nintendo because I like that they are different and I think they still make the best excusive games out there. Zelda and DK are like 2 of my top 5 favorite video game franchise ever and the newest DK game is worth playing just for its amazing soundtrack. Its soundtrack is one of the best I have heard in a video game in a long long time. I like Sony a lot to because they make great exclusives but unlike Nintendo there systems are more up to date. Microsoft I don't care for at all they have made zero excusive games between all 3 of there systems that I would want to get. I am only glad they are around because it gives Sony some competition. I am worried about the NX though because for 2 systems in a wow they have been way underpowered and not gotten 3erd party games and if NX doesn't do well I think they are done making systems.


Well out of the 10 games I have 4 games are sports games and last gen on ps3 I had like 35 games. Only exclusives I have right now are MLB the show, drive club, Knack, Ratchet and clank, Infamous. I do think the system is starting to pick up going forward though with TLG and Horizon. I live in CA and a average winter day is about 50 where I live and it normally snows about 3 days a year but it rains like 80% of winter days and I hate rain. I love like 95-100 even though most people hate the heat. Well I am thinking about playing the 2013 Tomb Raider as you can get it cheap on ps4 now with its DLC and then if I like it maybe get the other one to.

Didn't know about the September 13th thing first I heard of that. So Tokyo game show starts on the 14th? I know Sony is doing the meeting show thing to show slim and NEO most likely on September 7th and rumors are that Slim comes out on the 14th. For me to get a NEO most likely NEO would have to cost 350-400 and have a like 2 TB hard drive and be able to trade in normal ps4 for 200. If that happens then I could get a ps4 NEO and only have to pay 150-200 and I am going to need to get a bigger hard drive any way and a 2 TB hard drive cost like 100. So then I would really only be paying 50-100 more then I would with just keeping the normal ps4 and getting a bigger hard drive. That may not be likely but I don't really like this whole NEO thing and would rather Sony just do a ps5 in 2018-19 and I don't have a 4k TV yet and don't know when I am going to be able to get one. I need to move out first so I can not only get a 4k TV but so I have a big enough room that it can be like a 50-60 inch TV. With this NEO thing to I am most likely going to want now when ps5 comes out to make sure we don't get a ps5.5 or something. I also wonder with this whole NEO thing if we are done getting new console gens and instead may just do more like computers where you get a updated one that can play games and look better but can still play new games on the old systems to.

If the NEO ends up getting announced as being released next year as some have predicted (crossing my fingers this doesn't happen) then that PS4 Slim has my name written all over it. Won't be what I was hoping to buy but at least I will be back on the PS4 train while I wait for the upgrades next year.

That being said I really hope the only reason why NEO would come out next year is because they decided to re-spec and/or match the Scorpio power wise. Otherwise I think they might as well just release it ASAP.

I know not everyone agrees with that. I understand. It's just my personal outlook on the console situation based mostly on the fact that I don't have a PS4 right now and will be looking to buy one sometime in October.

What if the NEO is just early next year and not late next year? What is the latest you would want to get it with out just going for the slim instead?
