Thinking about putting myself into a self-induced coma for about 4 months to alleviate this painful waiting............

You might put yourself a little over a month past this console's release, if some of the Halloween rumors and speculations are true.

I have over $300 in Best Buy Reward Zone certificates, and that's almost all from this year (plus last year's Christmas shopping). Me thinketh I should plunk it down on one of these bad boys. Still want to wait until next year if I can, though.

Every week im buying a $25 amazon gift card. By November 7th that will be $400 in Amazon money which will cover a PS4. Then I can just pay for my games. But in October I get a inventory bonus from the job so that will cover the games I get. Got it all mapped out barring unexpected emergencies. Wish I had started buying the Amazon gift cards when I first pre-ordered would be further along in the process of paying this off.

Yep. They will probably do what they did last launch which is make the next gen version a port of the last gen version with upgraded graphics.

I dont think that might be the case this time...

I do know they mentioned it'll be a totally different experience than this gen.

I have $200 down on the console itself, but I already have Madden and Battlefield 4 paid off. Next things I buy are a new controller and Ghosts depending on if the multiplayer reveal is good or not. I'm also going to pay.off NBA Live and/or 2K before it comes out.

The main issue I hope has been improved upon is download speeds through PSN.

I sure hope so. It's just embarrassing compared to the 360.

A full game that take me an hour and 40 minutes on 360 takes me over 6 hours on PS3. Just ridiculous.

Wow I've never had issues downloading through PSN, even large downloads only take me an hour or 2

Neither have I and when I did it was my **** internet. I really think the damn network has too much variance from place to place. Its why we see such disparity.

I have fast speeds and LIVE and PSN use same network... LIVE destroys PSN.

Sony needs to fix it.

Those without issues. Do you also have LIVE? If so I bet LIVE is faster. If not then you simply don't see the discrepancy.

I've got both consoles as well and Live is certainly faster. The actual download speed for me is practically the same, but the fact that PS3 has to install after downloading makes it much slower. The install time takes twice as long as it does downloading.

I think we've visited this subject before, XBL is so much faster than PSN it's ridiculous.

I'm downloading stuff to my PC all the time and I know the approximate length of time it takes for files of a certain size to download on my connection. There's really not a whole lot of difference between my PC and the PS3 (or the Vita, for that matter) as far as the speeds/download times go. That said, my max is 5 MB/s Down, so maybe the difference people see between 360 and PS3 don't show up except at very high speeds.

Just as an example, I'm downloading FFXIV's character creation benchmark right now and it's 2.6 GB....showing up as a 1 1/2 hour download. That's also about what it would take me to download a file that size on the PSN.
