There were a "crap ton" on Ebay when the 360 was released. I still sold one for over a grand on launch day. The key was guaranteeing overnight delivery so the winner will get the system the next day.

Worse case scenario, people will break even.

I broke even on 360, but didn't do the best job of selling it.

I'd agree with that worst case though. Not 100% convinced that people will make tons of money this time or not though.

That's fine with me... I can wait until around Christmas to get a PS4... I'm asking for it for Christmas anyway.

I'll probably go there on launch day to see if I can grab one.

Just putting this in here:

Jack Tretton, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment of America, took a moment to sit down with Fox Business, and discuss the upcoming launch of the PS4. While he declines to dive deep into the exact numbers, Tretton claims that the PS4′s production yields are “phenomenal.” At this point all we really know is that the PS4 already has over a million pre-orders, and Sony plans on having plenty of stock on hand for retailers at launch.

Xbox and PS4 While it seems rather likely that the PS4 will sell out at launch, the supply chain doesn’t seem to be much of a problem. Sony isn’t launching in Japan until February of 2014, so North America and Europe should have plenty of units available for purchase. If you haven’t already secured your pre-order, it looks like you should be able to pick up a PS4 without much of a hassle around launch day. The days of consoles selling for two-to-three times their face value on eBay might just be behind us now.

I am just waiting for my GameStop to announce an official midnight release and then I will cancel my Amazon pre-order. I'll still be nervous without a backup, though.

Remember how when the 360/PS3 first came out there wasn't a Grand Theft Auto game for a pretty decent amount of time, so Saints Row was made which blatantly ripped it off and was incredibly successful doing so?

I think the same thing's going to happen with developers racing to make a next-gen Skyrim for this gen to make some money and maybe establish a franchise while people wait a couple years anxiously for the next non-MMORPG Elder Scrolls game to drop.
