PS3 Slim vs. Super Slim

I just went to pick up at PS3 yesterday at Gamestop and I asked for a Slim. I thought I was getting the kind with the internal disc drive, but I got a Super Slim with the sliding disc case mechanism.

The machine looked a little flimsy and cheap and I'm wondering if they're reliable and durable, or if the plain Slim is a better system. Do they even sell the original PS3 Slim models anymore, or have those been superceded by the Super Slim?

I heard you can drop it and it won't leave a single dent.

Don't actually try and do that, but I think they're actually more indestructible despite the "flimsy" top.

Wow! OK, that's useful. I have a toddler who likes to try to topple my systems, so it's good to know that this one is durable.

The noise of the laser can be a bit annoying, but that's something that one can get over. I also heard that the cooling mechanism is quieter than the original Slim.

Durability is a positive, but man those things are loud if you're sitting within the vicinity of the console. My friend got one for Christmas and it's much louder than my regular slim model.

I have the white super slim and I can;t hear it at all, runs quite, doesn't get hot and has been great thus far.

I play with Surround sound, so I could hear it anyway.
