    Re: E3 Discussion Thread

Im sure the xbox will have some exclusives for their loyal customers.

I just cant risk all that internet requiring stuff. I was ready to submit to used games and lending being out, and forced kinect, but that online check and having to be online to unlock your new game to play was bonkers. Thats not being a gamer thats being on parole. PS4 quelled all of it for me.

The line in the sand is as clear as day between these two systems. It will be interesting to see how it goes. But Sony got me for sticking to consumer first. They trumped MS in every way minus a couple run of the mill exclusives MS showed. MS needed a bunch of GOATs to win this E3 with what Sony was bringing.

Possibly the funniest comment I saw today was on Kotaku about Lebron James' wide mouth in the 2K14 trailer:

"That motha****er's was like the Grand Canyon"

          Re: E3 Discussion Thread

          My takeaways.

Thought MS dominated with games for their conference. Was completely impressed with their showing until the price. Even then, I was okay with it because I just figured, we're looking at $500 systems.

Sony's presser bored me, nothing was being shown, in fact, very little even went on through it IMO, but they did what they needed to and dropped a megaton on MS' head with price and DRM.

I do believe Sony sat back and changed something, maybe price, between the MS presser and the Sony one though. Sony was in a better seat for this to let MS make the mistakes and play off them.

I don't know how XBox recovers from this. The system will still sell, and will still be popular with the shooter crowd, but Sony will have a giant leg.

MS needs to come out and drop the online check and DRM stuff, but they almost can't with their new structure of every game being in the cloud, etc. Would essentially allow people to rent XB1 games from Red Box for 2 bucks and own them. Publishers won't like that. So not really sure where MS goes from here.

Also, long term affects of this against Sony. Will 3rd party see this as a middle finger to them and give MS the love? Or will they see that this was in fact, a mistake, essentially leaving MS out to dry. If Sony is selling systems this holiday like hotcakes, 3rd parties aren't going to turn down that money.

The games that MS impressed me with were Dead Rising 3, Ryse, and Killer Instinct (which finding out is free to play concerns me a bit with quality). Sony really didn't wow me with any first party stuff, but has the same 3rd party stuff MS has. MS other big exclusive was Titanfall, which later on I realized it's also a 360 game, which IMO, is a big blow to XB1's push for that title. Graphics won't be that much different and I can already play it on my current system.

I also noticed that the EA/MS partnership wasn't mentioned at all during the EA or MS presser. Just the 2 exclusive titles (Titanfall and Garden Warfare). The latter also coming to 360.

I have both systems preorderd at Amazon, heavliy leaning towards the PS4 right now. I will end up with only one but don't see much that can change my mind.

When it comes to price, they are a total wash for me.

          XB1 - $560 ($499 system, $60 controller, already have XBL through 2014)

          PS4 - $570 ($400 system, $60 controller, $60 camera, $50 PS+)

Best opening day of E3 ever though.

            Re: E3 Discussion Thread

I can see third party favoring Xbone big time giving them major exclusive bonuses or titles unless the thing turns out to be a big dud sales wise.

Those big publishers have a great reason to fully support the Xbone. If the Bone sells relatively equal to the PS4 I could see major multi platform titles going exclusive to Microsoft. But those companies would be brazen to take such a stand. They would do well not to alienate those gamers as well as forfeit those sales.

Its a tricky situation that I can see picking up steam years from now. The Xbox will definitely sell and have a big part in future DRM involvement in gaming. Seems like one console will force the other's hand down the line one way or the other.

I personally feel for most gamers, the $100 is more important than the DRM. I know the DRM truly doesn't affect me much. I just can't trade in games like I have, so I'm more selective, but that is what it is. The $100 and required Kinect are bigger deals to me.

This was the deal breaker with as well as the used games policy. DRM doesn't bother me since I've never played pirated games on any console. Once Sony announced $399 and no required ps eye it won instantly in my eyes

Agree. The no lending games was a bigger deal to me, because occasionally my friends and I would borrow each others game for a day or 2 to see if we liked it, then would buy our own copy.

I don't really trade many games in, but I never got the used games restrictions. Most people trade in games so they can buy new ones. It helps with sales of new titles.

                    .
There's no way Sony changed the price of their system in that timeframe.

Agreed. If it was a change, then it would have been $50 less. This was planned ever since the Sony boss last year said no PS3 pricing.

I honestly feel a bit sad about not being pumped for the XBOX1. Have had XBOX since day one of the original.
Not saying I won't have 1 some day when they release a game I have to play but knowing the uncertainty of what games I can and cannot trade, fees and the general feel that it will be a pain in the butt, what does MS expect me to do when compared to PS4.

Sandman you can still lend your games to your friends they just have 2 be on your friends list for @ least 30 days.

Also with the X1 your friends list jumps to 1000 people.

For me I just can't drop MS especially after all the time I've invested with them. My positive experiences with MS out weight any negative.

Dont be sad; they actively drove loyalists (myself included) away. I anticipate getting an Xbone one day in the future as well. Just not for 500; with all those restrictions no way.

Only thing Im really sad about is not getting my hands on that Dead Rising game.
