    PS3 question

    Hi Guys

My TV is a 1080i TV and the video output on my PS3 is set for 1080i and was just wondering when playing games where the output is 720p ( GTA for example ) the PS3 will automatically set it down to 720p games wont it? or will it try to run it at 1080i should i untick the 1080i & leave it on 576i&720p?

I assume if I have all the resolution boxes checked off that my TV supports that the ps3 will pick the native resolution for the game being played?

Hope you guys know what I mean?

    Jeremy

Don't quote me on this, but I think in the PS3 resolution settings you can check the boxes that are enabled, so if a game natively displays in one of those then it'll use that.

I think that's how it goes. You should be able to hit the "info" button on your tv remote (or something) to see the resolution it's using.

      Cheers,

Yeah been just doing a little reading and its what I think we are both saying and that if the boxes are checked that your tv supports the game will display in its native resolution.

From what I know, generally 720p is usually more appealing then 1080i. Has to do with how it refreshes the pixels. It's different for every tv and for every one on how they perceive the picture though.

But yes, the ps3 will automatically choose what is highest resolution for the game.

          Cheers Mark,

So would the ps3 pick 720p instead of 1080i if that games native resolution is 720p?

Yes that's right. Like Mgo said, if the option is ticked, then the game will load in its native resolution.
Tested on my tv, un ticked 1080p so only 720p and 1080i where ticked. Ps3 xmb the tv was in 1080i but as soon as GTA loaded the tv switched to 720p.

                Hi guys,

I have another question also. I notice that when I charge my PS3 controllers that when there done charging the red LEDS go off. I could have sworn at one time when they were done charging one of the LED's would stay solid? I have had my PS3 since 2006 and just wondered this now, lol?

Also you can charge a ps3 controller on a PC through one of its USB ports right?
