I mean no offense to OP, but I hate these threads. This is a gaming site, not slickdeals.net (I hate the threads there too, but that's a different story). I like money as much as the next guy, but debating how much we can extort from other gamers? Just not cool.
How much do you think I can get for a PS4 on launch day?

Re: How much do you think I can get for a PS4 on launch day?

I really don't know much about such deals, I never sold anything nor I would ever consider buying smth that heavily overpriced just to get it a few days earlier, so I'm wondering how come that there are seemingly so many people willing to pay like 100% more than the actual price. I mean if you are so keen on getting a next gen console at launch why in the world wouldn't you preporder it? The demand wasn't that high that you had to be super fast or it was even via lottery or smth was it?Spending time with Jesus!

Makes sense. After all..... lawyers like to call a lot of things other names!

We were really thinking of grabbing something early and applying capitalism (that's what I call it.....silly, I know). But seriously, if I was wanting that kind of change from someone, it would need to be a certified check. Most I sold on Craigslist was a collection of systems and peripherals so that I could turn around and buy a new PS3 Slim for the holidays (only regret was giving up my Action Replay periph). It was several hundreds of dollars, but the dude came with his pregnant wife and seemed legit.Last edited by daflyboys; 11-01-2013, 09:27 AM.Comment

I'll give you 2 examples:I really don't know much about such deals, I never sold anything nor I would ever consider buying smth that heavily overpriced just to get it a few days earlier, so I'm wondering how come that there are seemingly so many people willing to pay like 100% more than the actual price. 1) When the PS2 was released I only heard about it 3 days before release. I was a gamer but because of law school hadnt paid much attention to the new consoles. I played Madden on the ps2 at BB 3 days before release and decided I had to buy it. Best Buy was across the street from where I lived and I thought I would roll up to BB around 8am to pick up a console....boy was I wrong. There were 500 people in line waiting to buy one. I checked every store within a 60 mile radius and none of them had one.

I still wanted one so I was faced with either waiting a month to get one or paying more on Ebay and getting one in the next few days....I chose to spend $250 more to get it sooner. I had the expendable income so it wasnt a big deal.

 2) When the 360 dropped I preordered two because I knew the demand would be high. On launch day, I auctioned off my 360 and made almost $1000 profit. I was thinking to myself "Who the hell would pay $1000 more for a console?" So I looked up the guy's address on Google Earth. He lived in a huge mansion outside of Colorado so the extra grand probably wasnt a big deal to him.

You have to understand most people preordered around E3 and most of those people are techies and gamers. Casual gamers probably werent aware of the ps4 until the early fall when most preorders were gone. Thats not even including the parents whose kids will tell them they want a ps4 in Oct/Nov when its too late to preorder.Comment

 Ok, yes that makes sense.

This seems like this is a good way to make some serious money, too bad I didn't think of this before...lol But I would expect that more ppl had this idea. You'd recommend to sell it on Ebay?Last edited by geisterhome; 11-01-2013, 05:18 PM.Spending time with Jesus!
