Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons

According to DF (Digital Foundry), GTA V's framerate is more stable on PS4. Also, they have not "dumbed" down the PS4 version. Certain things, that the XBOne couldn't handle while keeping a steady framerate, has been toned down on the XBOne.

From what I saw neither system is running it perfectly. Seeing reports on multiple ps4 reviews of frame rate drops when there is a lot going on. Looks like gta is already pushing the limits of both of these consoles like it did last gen

I can't think of a PS4 exclusive other than the Last of Us remake which is worth mentioning. So it sort of boggles my mind that anyone can say the PS4 is superior to the One considering it's all about games...and the One has much more to offer at this point. I honestly can't tell the difference in side by side screenshots of games in which the PS4 has higher resolutions.

I don't care which console comes out on top. I like them both, and I still like PS4's simpler interface. I like PS4's controller much more than the One's controller. Gears of War and Halo 5 should be epic, but The Order 1888 and the next Uncharted should also be AAA titles.

I'm fortunate to have both systems, and that's where my focus is. I feel blessed to have them both sitting in my house, especially considering a few years ago I was on the verge of getting food at a food bank to feed my kids.
This is pretty close to my analysis but my conclusion is PS4 is simply better most of the time on non-exclusive games, at least for me. I also like their digital download system and how easy it is to order something on my iPad and have it loaded when I get home. I'd never give up either one but straight up gaming I tend to buy more on the ps4.

So when someone asks me which one is better I usually say "well It depends" and I ask them if controlling their TV with voice is cool to them or something they'd never use? Then I ask how much they like racing games. Based on those 2 answers I can give them an answer as to which system they should get.

It's not as simple as which one is better, it's more about which suits your tastes and your lifestyle. I have nothing bad to say about either system and love them both!!

I really wish you could open multiple apps on the PS4. I love creating vids on the XB1 using Upload Studio and being able to go back & forth between the game and the app is fantastic.

How is that different than using Smartglass to order digital and have it ready to go when you're home? I haven't used it on the PS4.

After a year of both, I use my XB1 way more than the PS4. It just comes down to games for me. PS4 is awesome, but the XB1 has just been way more innovative and "pleasing to the eye." Graphics are important, but they really aren't the end all for me, and I think a lot of gamers have become snobbish over what looks best on what system. If there is a difference, it's so minimal the average joe won't see that difference ever unless they have both games side by side, same tv, same game, same settings, etc. It's just a moot point to me.

Plus, XBL just still destroys PSN in nearly every category. The amount of updates Microsoft has pushed out over the past year for the XB1 has been amazing.

After a year for me, Advantage XB1.

I will say that I've been watching all the graphics comparison videos and the differences aren't enough for me to prefer PS4...I enjoy all my other features at that cost.

Even GTAV, i can deal with not having the exact same amount of grass in some areas.

I know this is a huge deal to some, but for me it's not enough to care about.

EA Access is getting friends to inch towards getting an Xbox One. The Black Friday and current price cuts don't seem to be enough for them though, at least one thinks a new form factor could come 'soon' but I think that's years away despite reports of that chip being worked on.

Yeah, those gifs and screen shots I've seen comparing the foliage just makes me shake my head. If there is a gamer out there pumped because he has more sage grass in his game than the XB counter-part, they're doing it wrong.

The same people complaining about the foliage are the same ones that complained about it in RDR on PS3.

The 360 did it better then (RDR),and now the PS4 does it better (GTAV)...in the end does it make a difference in gameplay? hell no it doesn't....

It get's beyond ridiculous to see kids crying over this stuff, and what's even funnier is the lengths some will go to "defend" their console of choice...
People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.

the X1 store is insanely difficult to find something, buy it and then when I finally did it didn't preload, when I got home I had to do it manually. Last time I ever bought any X1 digital title...ps4 is way too easy and when I get home voila...ready to play on both ps4s!

I think what is often confused though is people like me who own both systems talking about which system runs a game better and people perceive it as fanboyism when it's not, people that own both systems just want yo get the game that runs best and looks the best.

I was accused of being a kid defending a console of my choice (360) last ten despite owning both systems and I've been accused of being a kid defending their console of choice (PS4) this generation, again despite owning both systems.

In other words, it's not always about defending or attacking a console...it's often times about people comparing and discussing which is superior for the sake of spending their money in the best way possible on a specific game..

Maybe but I'm pretty savvy with that stuff, but bottom line is if you make it more difficult than the other guy then the other guy will get the dough..

Same here...this may have been the case with the 360 SmartGlass, but I think the X1 SmartGlass is a mighty fine app and is also a bit less cumbersome to use than the PlayStation App.

It is nice that SmartGlass and all of its functions are contained within the app itself, rather than with the PlayStation App which requires you to open your browser to view their store. Once SmartGlass is initially open, two taps and a swipe gets me to the free Games with Gold and Deals with Gold all on the same screen and one additional swipe gets me to the New Releases. I like that SmartGlass also displays when I made the purchase...not a huge deal, but I like additional info front and center like that.

Searching for games/apps with both apps is super easy and there really isn't a huge difference, with the exception of having to filter results with the PlayStation app if I want to only search for PS4 or Vita games/apps. Start typing and a number of choices pop up to predict your search...both apps handle this quite well and relatively quick, too. Checking out is easy on the SmartGlass...it requires fewer clicks (no carts) and it automatically downloads to my X1 (PlayStation app requires an additional click to initiate the download).

Both apps are very useful and rather easy to use, but I think SmartGlass is more user-friendly than the PlayStation app because of a few minor differences (fewer clicks/swipes to do similar features, aesthetics, etc). However, I don't see how anyone could really say either one is difficult to use.

I will try it again at some point, I don't dispute what you guys say, I just know that I had difficulty buying the title I wanted. I got an email I believe to buy it and I followed the link then I could find pics and vids but nowhere to click to purchase. I did end up finding it like I said but I was in a bit of a hurry and got pretty irritated it wasn't, in my opinion, straight forward. I was irritated but not mad.

Then when I got home and had thought it would be preloaded and it wasn't I got just plain mad, LOL. So in regards to preloading maybe I didnt, and don't right now, have it setup right. Any advice on that front would be appreciated from you guys who buy digital on Xbox a lot.
