    External HD XboxOne

I just purchased an external HD for my Xbox One. Generally, i only play Madden, but i do purchase games here and there to fiddle with.

My plan was to move all games not in use to the external HD and leave the current Madden on the console.

I was excited, about getting it set up, and in all the hubub i moved all game including madden over. The game seemed to play fine for the 5 minutes i had to mess around.

Are there any disadvantages I need to be made aware of if i just keep it as is? Will i suffer performance loss playing Madden from the external?

Keep it the way it is because you may actually see a minor improvement in load times and such with the games residing on the external. The USB 3.0 has a faster transfer rate than the internal HDD does (SATA II).

well, right on then, i'll give it a shot. i kept seeing the light flicker on the external every time something on the field was happening, made me wonder if the rate of data transfer was being hindered.

      thanks.

did you have to format the drive before putting connecting it to the XBONE? Or did you just connect it and the XBONE formatted it?? I have my old 500gb ps4 HD in a USB 3.0 enclosure that Im thinking of using for the XBONE..

I did the same a good while back so they may have fixed it by now (judging from the comments there they have) but I had to format the old PS4 hard drive on my laptop. The Xbox One said it wasn't large enough to use on the system (it read it as a 17gb hard drive).

Hopefully they've fixed that by now though seeing as others say their X1 formatted theirs ok.

This is the one ive had for the past 6 months and have not had any issues:

                          http://www.amazon.com/Book-Desktop-E...ssport+pro+4tb

That should hold you over for a long time as it is 4tb. Looks to have come down in price as well since I bought one.

Here's a 1TB that you could increase if needed. Same HD as the one Microsoft is pushing, minus the green exterior color.

Have had this for probably 9 months now.

Madden 15 used to give me major issues when playing from an external HD(stuttering, brief pauses in menu or character editing, etc.) That is the only game that gave me issues playing off the external. Ever since then I have kept madden on the internal HD....
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.
