Microsoft Elite Controller - Tips & Tricks?

So my wife got me a Microsoft Elite Controller for my birthday and I'm loving it!! But I wondered if any of you guys who had it had any tips and tricks about how to best utilize it as I want to make sure I'm using it to its full potential.

So far while my buddy was here we just removed the back flippers (it bothered him) but was wondering how you guys utilize those??? Is there a way to assign L3 / R3 to those flippers?

And any recommendations on the sticks and stick length? The only thing I've found so far is the longest stick works well for me in the right stick position for Rainbow Six Siege.

Let me know you guys input on how you're using yours plz!

You can assign those paddles to anything you wish. Just download the ELite Controller app on the XB store. From there you can map it all and you can mess with the deadzone, trigger locks, left and right stick precision.

I use the default left stick and the high stick on the right for more precise movement.

Only game I use the paddle is on Halo 5 due to the need for melee attacks that are very effective.

The left and right stick I moved it in the app from default to aggressive to remove deadzones

That's what I was going to do, move the melee attack to a paddle for Rainbow Six Siege. I looked at the software for a little bit when my friend was here but didn't take the time to go through it (as he just wanted to go ahead and get to gaming) but I will have to take another look at that.

those are trigger stops which cuts the trigger length so you can shoot quicker in shooters. I use it only for shooters online

leave it default which is the top. When playing shooters lower it so it cuts off half the distance on the trigger.

Re: Microsoft Elite Controller - Tips & Tricks?

Ok, I have a question about the Elite controller. In The Division one thing you use a lot is health which is right on the d-pad. I'd like to map one of the Elite paddles to right on the d-pad but cannot figure out how to do it. When I did it as I thought I would in the configuration button panel it just made it so the d-pad wouldn't work at all...LOL..

Is this even possible or am I wasting my time here?

Re: Microsoft Elite Controller - Tips & Tricks?

Ok, just posted this in my group in Facebook so I figured I'd post here to help you guys as well as I just learned this

If you are using the Microsoft Elite Controller and want to assign the right-click, left-click or d-pad directions to the paddles there is a way. I couldn't figure out how to do it on the Xbox One.

To do it you have to go to the PC app (download it in the Windows store - its called "Xbox Accessories") and there it gives you more settings in the drop downs.

Here's an example of what I did using this app in The Division:

I assigned the heal button to the upper right paddle. I assigned the dash button to the lower right paddle (so I won't have to click in when running) and finally assigned the melee' button to the upper right paddle so when I get in hand to hand combat I won't have to right click in.

Just tested these out in the game and work great!

Yep, just select the controller profile you want to change (or create a new one), go to change buttons, find the paddle you want to assign it to, change the assigned button to dpad right. And of course make sure to assign the profile to one of the two slots on the controller.

Which is odd because I assigned dash and melee on two of my paddles for the division, I used the app on the xbox one, no need for any PC app...

Maybe it's there to do it but I swear I looked at that like 5 times and couldn't find it, maybe there was a scroll bar I missed and that was the issue, oh well I'm glad to have finally figured it out!!

EDIT: seems doing a Google search on this I"m not the only one who misses it so maybe it was not there before and its been added or it's just a bit wonky to find when you're in there.

Scads and scads of people angry they cannot assign the right-click or left-click and/or d-pad on their new $150 controller...lol

edit - one of the comments in there says they cannot map the d pad to the paddles. I wonder - do you have the controller updated? Not sure why else that wouldnt be an option for some people.

Yes I did have to update the controller this past Friday. That would explain a lot actually.
