I don't think PSVR is going anywhere anytime soon either, but it has the highest barrier for entry for software development, and if anything does lead to it's demise it'll be that. We don't have any guidance from Sony that it will work with their next console, or if their current console library will either, so developers are faced with a 2-3? year window before Sony potentially moves on from both the HMD and the platform itself, whereas a SteamVR project remains relevant indefinitely.

True, but it still comes to how much of the VR market share Sony continues to capture for the rest of the year. Oculus, nor HTC have recently released any new sale numbers. Approaching close to a million units sold in 4 months time is still an accomplishment when your first big AAA hit just came out 6 or so weeks ago and your competition released their products 6 months or more earlier. If they get their "killer must have app"? Hopefully, Farpoint and E3 won't disappoint.

Sony also has its subsidiaries such as Sony Pictures and Music Entertainment which can facilitate delivery of your VR experiences prior to new releases as part of a master marketing plan.

Playing RE7 on PS VR has definitely changed my mind about the technology. There is definitely room for this kind of thing in the mainstream gaming world.

You gotta play RE7 in VR. It's amazing.

Not sure if anyone is aware but the GDC (Game Developers Conference) kicked off yesterday in San Francisco and will run February 27 — March 3, 2017. I'm hearing there are like 50+ VR sessions going on so we may be hearing about some new titles. I still think E3 should have the meat and potatoes but some info has been coming out soon on PS VR.

An article by Jay Posey, Narrative Designer, Red Storm Entertainment regarding Star Trek: Bridge Crew.

When you first load into Star Trek: Bridge Crew’s main menu, you start in an inspection shuttle, following a short orbit around the beautiful U.S.S. Aegis in dock at a space station. When we first started showing the game to the public, it wasn’t unusual for players to spend five minutes or more just sitting in that shuttle, staring out at space. In fact, one of our guys who ran a lot of demos said not once, but twice, players had to pause to wipe tears from their eyes.

And this was just our main menu.

Sony confirmed at GDC that they are working on new titles with the Aim controller in mind.

At a PlayStation VR focused session at GDC yesterday, Technical Product Manager at PlayStation, Tom Bruckbock, was asked about Sony’s plans on software support for the new peripheral. In response, Bruckbock stated that the company was indeed working on entirely new titles built with the device as a foundation.

When asked if that meant retro-active support for existing PSVR games like PlayStation VR Worlds, the company confirmed that it had entirely new titles in the works, although precisely what those titles were and when they might arrive is still a mystery. However, Bruckbock also confirmed that zombie shooter The Brookhaven Experiment will receive Aim controller support.

                  Re: PS VR

Well if 4.5 does comes out tomorrow, besides the 3D Blu-ray Playback we should also be getting improved vr tracking with version 2.40 of the PS VR firmware.

When asked to detail the tracking improvements, the developers didn’t share specifics, except to say that the changes were derived from work with the Aim controller, but apply to tracking in general. The improvements are also applicable to all PSVR games following the PS4 System Software Update 4.50 without requiring per-game updates. The developers cautioned that users shouldn’t expect major changes to tracking performance, but apparently felt the improvements notable enough to warrant mentioning during the session.

In addition to PSVR tracking improvements, Sony confirmed back in February that the PS4 System Software Update 4.50 will add 3D playback on PSVR for supported Blu-rays. Presently, you can watch Blu-ray discs inside the PlayStation VR headset on a virtual screen, but even if the movie supports 3D, you’ll see a flat image. The update will add depth to the screen as defined by the movie. PSVR currently supports 3D playback on some other video platforms, but Blu-day was left out, until now.

Among other additions to the console’s base experience, the forthcoming PS4 System Software Update 4.50 will bring improved tracking and 3D Blu-ray playback to Sony’s PlayStation VR headset. In time for the launch of Farpoint and the PSVR Aim controller, the PS4 System Software Update 4.50 will launch with tracking improvements that apply to objects tracked with …

I guess you could call this PSVR's version of PS+ freebie for the month. Cyber Danganronpa VR: The Class Trial, is free for download on PSN.

The game is a tech demo that takes roughly ten minutes to play through, where the player aims to uncover who was behind a murder in a "class trial" from the game Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. It was well received by critics, who enjoyed its visuals. Source:

World of VR gives a nice 3 min preview of Star Trek: Bridge Crew. If all works as advertised, this game looks like a sure hit! Incredibly, my only worry is what will Ubisoft do to screw this up.

My VR unit came in today. My impressions so far:

Setting it up was a minor inconvenience. Lot of extra wires to deal with now. The earbuds they came with were painful to use. On the plus side I feel like VR is a game changer. Having never used a VR headset i felt euphoric. It was so awesome. The headset was comfortable. The tracking was really good. I can't wait to try out more games. I have re7 which I gotta say I'm actually really nervous to play. I will definitely be picking up more vr games and I hope its here to stay for the long haul.

New game reveal called "The Persistence".

Essentially, you take control of a passenger on a starship that’s awoken from sleep after all of the previous crew was either murdered or transformed into a hideous monster. If you die as this new passenger, the ship’s A.I. awakens a different sleeping passenger that you take control of to pick up where the last one left off.

The twist is that, as a procedurally generated title, every time you restart, the ship’s layout changes. That’s where things get interesting.

The Persistence is currently slated for a May 2017 release window on PSVR according to Sony, but there’s no definitive word on the price point or plans for other platforms in the future right now.

Every now and then a game comes along that marries genres together in such a way that it just makes perfect sense. When the premise for The Persistence was described to me, I found myself wondering why it hadn’t been made sooner. Essentially, you take control of a passenger

Farpoint is shaping up to be one of PSVR’s best and most exciting upcoming titles. The robust 5+ hour single player campaign combined with a separate and fleshed out cooperative multiplayer mode delivers more content than most VR-only titles in these early years of the industry. We’ve only seen small slices thus far, but the quality of the game and the power of the Aim controller have us excited to try more.

I don’t remember when it happened exactly, but at some point in my 10-15 minute cooperative multiplayer demo for Farpoint, I forgot I was holding a little plastic toy gun in my hands. Instead, my brain really started to think I was holding a large, powerful rifle, and I
