Nintendo still has a ways to go it seems... Cloud saves are wiped if your membership lapses for any reason.

Q. After my Nintendo Switch Online subscription expires, will my Save Data Cloud files and Nintendo Entertainment System – Nintendo Switch Online save data be erased?

A. Save data stored with Save Data Cloud cannot be kept outside of the duration of your Nintendo Switch Online membership. Nintendo Entertainment System – Nintendo Switch Online also uses the Save Data Cloud, so the same applies. However, if you keep the Nintendo Entertainment System – Nintendo Switch Online save data saved locally on your Nintendo Switch console, then you can use it again if you purchase another membership.

Excited for the new (and new to the system) games, but I'm a little disappointed that they haven't shared their plans for old games outside of the NES.

I need some SNES and N64 Donkey Kong.

Yeah, Nintendo can keep their half-baked online service, along with the $60 wireless NES controllers. I am completely happy with the Switch, even though Nintendo's decision making at times drive me a little nuts. People will sign-up and a boatload will buy the overpriced peripherals, so who am I to question their practices. *shrugs*

Will pick up New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe in January (maybe Mario Party 3 as well) and Luigi’s Mansion 3 whenever that releases. And still need to get Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze at some point.

Just was thinking of this question:

For games like 2k19 where being connected is needed for MyPlayer and VC stuff, I'm assuming you'd need the Online service for that, even if you never play in the Park or whatnot?

I don't think so, but like FT said, you never know with Nintendo. I don't have a PS Plus account and earn VC on the PS4 version.

I'm not a big RPG guy, but picked up Octopath Traveler (used physical version from GameStop for like $40) and man, the game is really interesting. The graphics are a nice homage to the 16-bit era, the voice acting is pretty good and the combat makes the turn-based system engaging and fun and not so repetitive.

I go to this game when I need to give my hands a bit of a rest from playing 2K19. Really should've brought my Pro Controller with me on the road, lol. I do have the joy-con grip thing that came with the Switch, so using tabletop mode does make things a little better. Really need to invest in one of those grip add-ons.

I have the Skull & Co. slim grip with the handles on the sides. It's great for extended sessions, and while I know they don't advertise it any longer as it is very hit and miss, I can put my Switch in the dock with the case on (and a tempered class screen protector). It's snug, but it works!

In addition to this, the Switch has to phone home once a week or none of our decades old temporarily free games will work anymore.

After losing my switch last year, I’m happy Animal Crossing is finally coming. That’s when I said I’d buy another [emoji3]

I still have the Wii hooked up in the bedroom and still play Animal Crossing to this day. I had given up all hope of Nintendo ever making another console version of the game. I was so excited when I heard the news a new one was coming in 2019!
