Rookie question here but I'm kicking the tires on getting a Switch and trying to do some homework on if it makes sense and which model.

First question is this - I will very rarely, if ever, play on the go. I'm interested in using the Switch more like a fixed console that's connected to my TV all of the time. I would love to play Switch Online with access to all of the NES, SNES, Sega, N64, etc. games on my TV. Browsing online, it doesn't sound like that would be a problem but does anyone here think otherwise?

I think that will put me at the basic Nintendo Switch for $299, yes? I think OLED would be overkill if I'm full time docked.

OLED comes with more GB built in, but I would honestly say go with the standard.

Does the GB matter if I'm just playing Switch Online games? Hadn't thought about that but maybe there's some storage space that gets eaten up by that.

Oh, no you'll be fine if that's all you'll be doing! They take up very small amounts.

Got it. I’m sure I’ll pick up a Mario Kart or the new Wonder game, but probably a short list of modern games.

Hoping to see the games list continue. Probably dreaming but give me some of the N64 wrestling games, or Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow on GBC, every Mario game, etc.

Beat Zelda TOTK yesterday after about 180 hours great end fight way better than the disappointment final fight in botw. Well done Nintendo. Still got a lot of side stuff to do.

My son got a bunch of Nintendo Eshop cards for his Bday.

Can you use the eshop cards to buy one year memberships ?? Or do you need the actual one year meme we ship cards ??

Can't wait for the Super Mario RPG remake and having both of the RPG's that got me INTO RPG's back in the SNES days on the same console (Earthbound is the other - ones like FF6 and Chrono Trigger came later for me).

I been wanting the oled for a while now. So im going ot sell my current switch to get the oled. I dont do the docking and play in handheld mode only so i been reading the big improvements is in handheld mode due to the graphics and sound. What games u guys playing now

Really hope the next version of the Switch really steps it up hardware-wise. Most of these ports are coming out terribly. MK was terrible and the pictures of the Arkham Trilogy aren't pretty either. The next Switch doesn't need to compete with the PS5/XSX hardwise-wise, that's not the lane they're trying to be in. But, if they want to keep porting some of these major AAA games over to the Switch, they need hardware capable of handling those games.

It would be nice to see some of these Nintendo games made on a bigger scale.

Yeah, Nintendo has their own lane and they should stick to it. It's one thing to do cash grab ports, but if it can't even be a quality port, then don't bother. Their lane is quality first party titles, they should stick to that. The allure of a quality port would be to be able to play a major AAA title on the go. But, the current Switch models can't handle that
