I seen that Donkey Kong Bonanza might be $70 because it's a platformer. I expected GTA 6 to come out over $80+ and it being justified because of demand. No offense, but I don't think these Nintendo style games should be market setters. I always respected how Nintendo carved their own lane. They never tried to go in the console power race or focus on cutting edge graphics. I don't think they should price their games under Sony and Microsoft, but they shouldn't price them above them.

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion
What kind of fairy tale post Covid, runaway inflation, soon to be aggressively tariffed economy are you guys living in??
$350-399 would’ve been nice, but $449 isn’t out of line for this level of handheld hardware with access to the exclusive Nintendo library in 2025.
$80 for digital games is a little surprising, but I dunno… I remember trying to scratch together $60-70 as a kid when I really wanted a new game for the N64. Now nearly 3 decades later that price is $70-90. I rarely buy new games as it is, but I have trouble getting too worked up when so many other things in my life are double or triple the price over an even shorter time frame.
I will say, at these prices, they need to finally get their overall online experience over the edge and on par with Sony and Microsoft. I know they probably won’t completely, but it really needs to be closer at this point.

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion
Yeah they jumped the shark with this one. Going to be a lot of sad little kids. $450 for a Switch ? That is the price of a digital PS5. $90 for physical games ? And we all know Nintendo games very rarely go on sale for their physical games. Only people I see buying this are the diehard fans and those with money.
Really not so much the console price that is the problem, because PS5, PS5 Pro sold pretty good, it is the price of the games. If the base edition going to be $90, than the steelbook or special edition going to be over $100. If this is going to be where the direction of console gaming is headed, than I can see more and more people just getting into PC gaming.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion
I mentioned this in the state of gaming threat, but the microeconomics (ie: individuals) are far less favorable for disposable income today than they were when the N64 was a thing (even after accounting how that game from 30 years equates in real inflation dollars).
So imo it's hard to blame anyone for looking sideways at Nintendo when so much of the average individual's income is dedicated to just living in 2025 and Nintendo decides to go with 30% and 50% price increases on some of their video games (in an industry that has been very creative in creating new revenue streams on top of the base price for years).Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion
I caved... spent 40 mins trying to check out last week and finally got through.
Not normally a Nintendo guy but as a dad, the kids love their Switch.
Seeing how happy they were when I told them we got a preorder makes it all worth it.Comment
