Internet speeds

Hi guys

In the last week othe so I have upgraded my internet package through my cable company.

I'm not all that great when I comes to tech stuff. I did that speed test and had the following

Download 101.61
Upload 11.65
Ping 16ms

Is this decent enough to play games like battlefield online?

Any help would be great as I don't know much about this

Internet speeds

Yeah, that's excellent. Charter Spectrum in St. Louis is offering 100 Mbps down, but I'm getting 130 from them, which is nice.

One thing to consider is running a speed test on your console to confirm your speed. If you are on WiFi, it could be much lower depending on a lot of variables.

This isn't directed at you, Jeremy. But I sometimes feel like people ask this question to show off their internet speed like it's a badge of honor. lol

People will be like hey I have 845mbps down and 348mbps up. Is that good? Can I play games online with that.

Mine is 60mbps and I have no problem at all playing anything or streaming anything.

I have a 56k modem, a U.S. Robotics one in fact. When I connect to the net I hear bells and gongs going off. Is that normal? Also, that new show The Matrix looks sort of cool, wonder that that is all about?

I just didn't know if that was in fact fast at all. My internet provider told me to use the Speedtest program. Like I was saying I'm not too bright when it comes to this stuff,lol

To be completely honest guys to help people understand the speed thing. When it comes to gaming it's all about your ping. Yeah the bandwidth is nice when it comes to streaming and downloading but honestly as long as you have a ping <100 you can play online with 2 or 3 megs. All that extra bandwidth will have nothing to so with you lagging, online gaming is all about latency.

To be honest, around 15 mbps is all you really need in a household to efficiently stream, game, and browse. All that bandwidth that fiber offers is completely unnecessary in most households

This is true. When I traveled for business I had my Xbox 360 and played NCAA all the time online using my phone connection which was a 7mb connection and I never had a bit of problem playing.
