Non-sports game wise, we should have a few great ones like AC Ragnarok, Watch Dogs Legion, possibly Batman Arkham Legacy and possibly next gen ports of Avengers/Cyberpunk 2077, etc.

Third party wise, im not worried whatsoever but exclusives are more important for me because third party games will be on both consoles.

I don't replay games either. The Witcher 3 is the only exception because I wanted to play the expansions and didn't keep my game save file.

I don't see Sony patching games. Instead, they will just be the PS4 version.

I am not sure if the batman game is really even being made at this point just so many rumors/leaks for so darn long i can't believe it in till i see the darn thing lol. I am not normally big when it comes to racing games did like drive club a lot though. I think Horizon zero dawn 2 at launch is extremely likely like 90% chance, and even if its not at launch I cant see it being later then early 2021. So yeah if ratchet and clank and Horizon zero dawn 2 are both out in the first like 5-6 months that is already a really good start and i think spiderman 2 is likely a late 2021/early 2022 game. When it comes to like a ps5 patch i am not sure how many games will get that. I think games like TLOU2 and GOT will get one for sure but not sure if other older games will get one or not. I known its not going to happen but would love for batman arkham knight to get a ps5 4k patch lol. Its still one of the best looking games i have seen this gen and would be great to get 4k.
Batman Arkham Legacy/Court of Owls would be a game I would buy with no hesitation and I'm very hesitant on buying games. When it comes to non-sports games, I typically just do the single player campaign once and done with the game. I never focus on getting 100% completion, I just beat the main story and move on. But Arkham Knight was the first game in a long while that I nearly got 100% completion. I did everything besides the Riddler trophies. So I would definitely buy a new Batman game. But, they have been so hush hush that so l don't know. They have been putting out hints and I think with Arkham Knight released the game within months of announcement(not sure). I rather the game be on next gen only rather than a cross gen. I don't think if it isn't revealed before E3, that it comes out this year. Is a E3 reveal in early June enough time for marketing for a November/December release? It can be, but it would have to be completely done by July at the latest.

I'm sure PS5 will have a Boost mode like PS4 Pro did. But there are games I would like to see get a PS5 upscale patch. Not sure how the Boost Mode will help since I never really tried it, but there are a lot of current gen games that would look even better with upscaled graphics. I doubt we see PS3/360 games that were remastered, get a upscaled again though. I would like to see key games like Arkham, any of the Tomb Raiders, Uncharted, and newer exclusives get upscaled. Maybe the Boost mode helps, but I think it is up to the developer to decide to do that. Unless, they are planning for a future release, I'm not sure that they take the time to patch it. I do believe that upcoming sequels affect it as well. Where I can see GoW, Spiderman getting a PS5 patch or PS5 port just because the sequels is probably a couple years out. But for a game like Horizon Zero Dawn, I'm not sure since the sequel might be a launch game(within 6 months).

Ratchet & Clank 2 is expected to be the follow up/sequel to the 2016 remake. Batman Arkham Legacy is real because if it isn't, why would WB continue teasing something that doesn't exist? That would just bring a lot of criticism and fans not being happy whatsoever. My guess is a reveal trailer at PS5 reveal especially if Sony ends up with the marketing deal. The real question though is - will it be current gen only or cross-gen???

We've had discussions in regards to Horizon Zero Dawn 2 and im simply sticking with my Fall 2021/early 2022 release date. I do however expect a reveal teaser trailer at Sony's PS5 reveal event. Every generation, sequels to games have taken longer to develop. No way you're getting HZD 2 3 1/2 years after the original game plus everyone keeps forgetting about The Frozen Wilds expansion that released on November 7th, 2017. And if the rumored PC port of Horizon was developed in house, chances are that's more time taken away from the sequel which is also another reason why the sequel is further out than you think it is but at the same time, if it was day one or early 2021, I sure as hell wouldn't complain but im not expecting HZD 2 that soon.

Batman Arkham Knight was revealed in March 2014, had a Fall 2014 release date but was delayed to June 2015 after E3. I could easily see an announcement and the game being released late 2020 because it seems like they're really waiting a very long time to reveal the game which means that the game will be further along when they show it.

If I had to bet, I would say cross-gen is a better chance as opposed to next gen only because the game has been reportedly worked on for a long time and PS5 dev kits weren't available until early 2019 at the earliest so I doubt that it would be next gen only. If anything, I would say current gen only is more likely but I am hoping for cross-gen because I would much rather play it on next gen hardware as opposed to current gen hardware.

Also, I don't believe that WB Games would want to pass on the 150m+ user install base of PS4/Xbox One especially when Rocksteady's next game will be next gen only and is a few years away.

Marketing wise, they would be fine. Heavy marketing is usually done within the last three months before release plus all that is planned out way in advance plus it's Batman. They could announce it, say it's being released in a month and still sell millions.

Am I crazy in thinking Sony (given history) won't have HZD or one of the main games as a launch title? Launch titles aren't usually the stellar amazing games, they're whatever they could get good enough for launch....

Nope not at all. If i recall, PS4 launch lineup was lackluster. Besides GT7, I'm not expecting something stellar as far as exclusives. People are assuming HZD because it would be a sequel and sequels usually don't take as long too develop since groundwork is set. I think they would make the sequel a PS5 exclusive, so I'm not sure it will be available day one.

For me, I'm okay if there isn't a major exclusive day one. Im still buying day one regardless. Im sure there will be a few good third party games and hopefully some upgraded PS4 exclusives. I rather them not rush out the major PS5 exclusives

No, you're not crazy. I'm not expecting anything major or top tier like Horizon 2, God of War 2, etc.

My prediction is - Demon's Souls Remake, Killzone 5 or new FPS IP, Ratchet & Clank 2 and TLOUP2 online multi-player which I believe is reasonable and realistic.

This is why im hoping Sony decides to make Ghost of Tsushima a cross-gen launch title especially since September now has two major top tier AAA releases which eliminates that release window for the game.

Every console launch has been lackluster. A few have had that ONE amazing game (SNES with SMW, N64 with SM64, Xbox with Halo and Switch with BOTW) but they are few and far between.

Horizon 2 will definitely be PS5 title as opposed to cross-gen. With Horizon Zero Dawn going to PC, that's another reason why the sequel would be further out because Sony would want as many people as possible to play the game before releasing the sequel.

I agree with them NOT rushing out anything which is why im hoping Ghost of Tsushima becomes a cross-gen title. Third party wise, it should be stacked.

Yeah, you guys have good points for sure...It's just going to be hard for both to push new sales without killer games, but we will see.

I'd love a Sony Game Pass or something, but I don't know if they like that services idea like MS does. I could deal with 10 bucks a month or something similar (80 to 100 a year depending on deals?) whereas having to buy a new ecosystem paying full price for games is rougher for me on entry.

I can live without exclusives, but HZD is literally the one game I'd love lol.

I agree about the Subscription service. I would love not to get Gamefly again next gen. If it could have legacy titles, PS4 exclusives(with an upgrade), and PS5 exclusives after a while, then I would definitely use that over Gamefly

Console launches are mostly for the hardcore must have it day one. I believe that Sony's console exclusives at launch will be better than what they had on the previous four console launches but barring a delay will come up short against Xbox Series X due to Halo Infinite.

I'm still 90% physical disc based gamer and not a collector so for me, every game is basically $30 after trading it in and I still get to play it at launch. I can see Sony putting their console exclusives on PS Now at some point but in fairness, like Nintendo, majority of them sell 10m+ copies usually at the full $60 price tag so do they really need to do that? Depends on what their direction is.

Don't get me wrong though, as long as I can download the games, $10 for a monthly rental would be fine by me. I will be using Game Pass for Xbox Series X console exclusives because well, why would I pay $30 (after trade in) when I can pay $10 for a monthly rental?

Console exclusives are my primary reason for buying/selling/keeping any console because if I don't have any that im interested in playing, no reason for me to keep the console but we'll see what Sony does. Sony is already putting their console exclusives on PC which I believe will be day one with the launch of PS5 so seeing them on PS Now day one is definitely a possibility at some point.

GameFly isn't bad. $25 a month for 2 games is pretty good. The only negative is at times NOT getting a new release day one and instead having to wait. Like I said above, if Sony was to put their console exclusives on PS Now day one AND I can download them (no interest in streaming games whatsoever), I would do the same thing as what im planning to do in regards to Xbox Series X.

$1000??? Thinking PS5 and Xbox Series X??? Screw that. More like $1400 for PS5, Xbox Series X and Switch Pro. Hehehe.

Its not just Sony most consoles in general don't have much the first year or so. Not always though switch got splatoon 2 and Mario odyssey in the first like 9 months and also BOTW port. I don't known how things were from like ps1 to ps2 to ps3 etc when it comes to like when Sony's first party came out with there last game on the last system but i think Sony's first party right now is set up in a way to have a better line up on launch games then normal.

Gorilla games have not had a game sense Horizon and by launch that will have been around 3 years and 7 months. Even if you take the time they spent working on dlc still around like 3 years and they could have had some of the team move on to the next game before the dlc was even done. Spiderman will be about 2 years for Insomanic games and last ratchet game will have been around 4 and a half years. With that i see no reason we cant get Horizon zero dawn, ratchet and clank and spiderman 2 all in around the first full year of ps5. When it comes to ratchet and clank i known people have said it will be like the last game meaning another re imagine type of game, but that is just people assuming has they could just has easy make a complete new game picking up from the future games or do something complete different even.

That is fine i am just a Sony and Nintendo guy has Microsoft just simple does not make any games that interest me at all. Maybe one day that will change but i just don't see it.

Yep. Day one or later on, I will own all three. For my entire gaming life, I have always had multiple consoles except during the NES generation. Skipped Wii U and only owned a Wii for a month or so. All consoles listed in order of primary to secondary, etc.

                          NES
                          SNES/Genesis CDX (Genesis/CD combo)
                          PSone/N64/3DO/Saturn
                          PS2/Gamecube/Xbox
                          Xbox 360/PS3/Wii
                          PS4/Xbox One/Switch

As long as there's console exclusives that I want to play, no console will be ignored. I even bought that Genesis CDX combo so I could play just two games for Sega CD - Final Fight CD and Snatcher.

Since I will be including Switch Pro into the ninth generation of gaming with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, it will be 5 generations in a row where I own all three console brands/platforms.

                            NES
                            SNES/Genesis CDX (Genesis/CD combo)

                            PS2/Gamecube/Xbox
                            Xbox 360/PS3/Wii
                            PS4/Xbox One/Switch

As long as there's console exclusives that I want to play, no console will be ignored. I even bought that Genesis CDX combo so I could play just two games for Sega CD - Final Fight CD and Snatcher.

Since I will be including Switch Pro into the ninth generation of gaming with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, it will be 5 generations in a row where I own all three console brands/platforms.
Oh i see i may just wait for switch 2 or something, and keep my original switch instead of getting the pro has i am not sure how much better the pro will be, and the cost of getting it. Switch pro may just be like upscale to 4k type of thing or something. Maybe be switch 2 Nintendo will be 4k. Also with the switch back up save not being user friendly has you cant back up on a flash drive like you should be able to and having to lose like progress on a game like splatoon 2 has i heard you cant back up saves on it.

Hehehe.

I'm probably somewhat crazy, but buying games even at 30 adds up somewhat fast, but I can figure out 90ish a year on a service that provides a lot more value than 3 or 4 solo games. I totally get your point though, and it's definitely a way to save on used stuff.

My work has a wellness/wellbeing stipend of 500 a year where they pay for half of stuff, so that's where i'm probably getting a Series X (I just pay half) but I may also just hold off until the following Black Friday I dunno.

PS5 would be if there was a decent service and end up getting a deal on BF or something where it's not that much money. Multiple ecosystems is rough though too.

I don't collect games and only really buy games I'm sure I can replay multiple times. So I'm all for a quality subscription service. Especially for BC. I rather just use a subscription service to play legacy and PS4 exclusives. That way when I'm done, I don't feel like a bought a physical disc and touch it again.
With Gamefly, I felt as long as I rented 4-5 games a year, it would feel like it I was getting years worth. I rather pay less than that and be able to access so much more quality games.
