I don't see games like Spider-Man 2 or GOW 5 being at launch after just 2 years from previous game. I rather see those games get the full power of new console. While I do mainly play sports games, we don't really see quality sports games until year 3 of console generation. BC games are cool especially if some can get performance boost like Xbox gets. But I wouldn't buy PS5 for that. I don't collect games, so I would either have to buy digitally or rebuy them.
A new Batman game or Uncharted could help sway me to buy PS5. Most of the New games coming out next year, I might wait to play until next gen, so by then along with right launch title, I'll have a decent collection to choose from
Not really in order but just like over all thoughts and games.

    1. Ratchet and clank- Ratchet and clank is my second favorite video game franchise behind only Zelda. I think this is extremely likely because of what I said above. At the same time you never maybe insomniac gives us a curve ball and release a complete new ip. I love insomniac so a new ip I might be down for and yes there are a lot of ratchet games over all but at the same time only one this gen.

    2. Horizon zero dawn 2- I loved the first game still need to play threw it again never did side missions. I think its pretty likely because by the time ps5 comes out Horizon will be 3.5+ years old. I think 3.5 should be more then enough time for them to make a sequel. At the same time there have been rumors about the studio making a new Kill zone or new multiplayer ip. So we might get that at launch and Horizon zero dawn 2 a year or so later.

    3. Spiderman 2- I love Spiderman and with loving Spiderman character and also insomniac its like a match made in heaven. I dont think this is likely though the game will only be around 2 years old by the time ps5 comes out. I think later 2021 or early 2022 is far more likely.

    4. A new batman Arkham game- There have been a lot of rumors about Arkham getting a new game but with WB having been working on something for a long time it seems like it will be a current gen game not next gen or maybe cross gen.

    5. Rocksteady- I love the Arkham games but rocksteady is done with batman but I am really wondering what in the heck they are doing now. Because I loved the Arkham games I might be interested in what ever in the heck they are doing next but we need news first. I think there next game is next gen and could very well be at next gen launch.

    6. Modnation racers 2- This is very unlikely but I would love modnation racers 2. Modnation racers was amazing like a much better version of Mario kart and needs a sequel but for some reason it didn't sale that well. So because of its lack of sales I am not sure if it will ever get a sequel.

I think because of the timing of ps5 and the timing of when some of ps4 studios came out with there last games I think ps5 is set up greatly. I think Horizon zero dawn 2 and ratchet are extremely likely to be at launch by its self and that is already a amazing start and that dont even include other next gen games that we dont even known about yet or that will be shortly after launch like early 2021. I think with in the first 1-2 years we will get ratchet and clank, Horizon 2 and Spiderman 2 and considering how few good games consoles tend to get the first two years or so of a new console I think that would be one of the better starts to a next gen system.

But if the console is as powerful(and hopefully no need for mid gen refresh) I'm okay with spending $600. Looking at the PS5 dev kit leak pictures today, I can see the fan concept transitioning into real PS5. As long as it performs well and it is properly cooled, I can care less how it looks.

A small feature I would like to see for PS5 is to allow more/all Bluetooth headsets/earbuds. I liked playing with earphones because it gives better audio experience. But I don't want to deal with wires. With the controller being Bluetooth capable and wireless audio set becoming a big thing, I don't see why they shouldn't allow us to use our wireless headsets. I have a newer wireless earbud set, it would be cool to be able to be able to use those where I can just play with just one ear in at times
That's the one thing I won't do on the next round of consoles is buy a "mid gen refresh." After buying a PS4 and Xbox One on launch day, I traded them both in when the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X was released and bought both. Looking back, I should have kept what I had. I am looking forward to the PS5. That will be a day one purchase for me.

If my GF didn't get me the Pro for a gift, I wouldn't had considered getting the Pro. While I like it, I could have sticked with my base model(even though I started getting the ejecting issue with base).
I feel the mid gen refresh was for consoles to update to 4k and increase performance of consoles. I don't 8k being a true thing for gaming within a few years, Let alone recreational use. 4k was more reasonable around PS4 launch. Only certain brands even have 8k Tv's. Until 8k TVs are more prevalent and affordable, it isn't reasonable to think about 8k. Then 8k gaming isn't realistic within 3-5 years. It'll be a while 8k gaming is prevalent for PC, let alone consoles. As far as console performance, if the console is as powerful as it is being touted, there shouldn't be a need for a mid gen refresh.

I'm not for the two model plan either. I don't like the idea of a Pro and Base model at launch. If you have to get the cheaper less powerful PS5 model at launch, then you're better off just staying with the PS4 until PS5 gets a good discount. Especially since most major games will be cross generation

I just want to buy one console and not think about getting another console until next generation

I have a pretty big collection/backlog of PS4 games and I'd like to be able hand my PS4 down to my kids and buy a PS5 and be okay to keep playing those games too.. especially considering new console generations are always slow to start and build up a lot of quality titles.
The confusion is why BC makes you want a new console. BC is essential for getting me to buy a new console sooner, but it does nothing to make me want a new console. I don’t want multiple consoles under my TV. When I get a new one, my old one gathers dust in a closet. So BC means that my collection of games come with me, and I’m not rebuying “enhances” versions of games I already own.

I also think the ray tracing feature is really overblown. I’m sure it will be nice. It won’t make me like games more. I love HDR, but it didn’t really change anything.

They also said it would be significantly less by the time the PS5 launches. They said I might get the $250.00 in trade for a PS5 if the pre orders become available soon , but they still have no date for that.

So I put my X up on the Facebook market place for $350.00 with two controllers. Had a few people express interest but no sale yet. May have to drop it to $300.00. I want to unload this console now while it still has some value.
I traded in my Xbox One X today to GameStop for $250 credit. Up to $650 total credit with GameStop. Two years after launch, just in case Microsoft announces a price drop at XO19, it was just too good of a deal to pass up. Now if only I could get $200 for my original Switch, that would be gone too!!! LOL.

Once I trade in AC Odyssey, The Outer Worlds, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, COD MW and Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order by year's end, I should be at around $750-$800. Will easily be at $1000 by the time Sony and Microsoft allow pre-orders. Next gen baby!!! Whoooo!!!

Cool but never buy the first release. It always gets gets upgraded and cheaper shortly after release with more disk space and the console gets smaller.

Thats just me but i know some can resist getting it right away. I never do.

True and I agree but when Sony released the PS4 Slim, it was 34 months later. Two months short of three years after it originally released. Honestly, im not waiting three years. First and foremost, I don't want to wait. Second, the current generation will be pretty much done for me and time to move on. Third, if I was to wait three years, I would probably have a 20+ game backlog minimum and that would be horrible. Also, price wise, the difference was only $100 three years later. Just not going to wait.

For PlayStation 5, listed below are the following games that im expecting to be released for PlayStation 5 exclusively or a cross-gen multi-platform game at launch -

                - Assassin's Creed Ragnarok (Ubisoft)
                - Batman: Arkham Legacy (WB Games)
                - Battlefield 6 (EA)
                - Call of Duty 2020 (Activision)
                - Demon's Souls Remake (Sony/PS5 exclusive)
                - Dying Light 2 (PS4/Xbox One Spring 2020, next gen launch title)
                - Ghost of Tsushima (Sony/cross gen)
                - Killzone 5 or new FPS IP (Sony/PS5 exclusive)
                - Ratchet & Clank 2 (Sony/PS5 exclusive)
                - TLOUP2 Online Multi-Player (Sony/cross-gen)
                - Watch Dogs Legion (Ubisoft/cross-gen)

That's 10 games alone not including a few Scarlett/Xbox One exclusives, the sports games and first party titles that get a next gen update for day one via backwards compatibility.

Out of that list, I can guarantee that im day one for six of them for PlayStation 5. My list doesn't even include digital only titles, AA titles or other games like Bethesda's Ghostwire Tokyo from Tango Gameworks.

Fall 2020 with next gen could very be the biggest and most packed lineup of all time. Could a game or two get delayed to Q1 2021 (January/February/March)? Absolutely but even then, you're talking about a ton of games within a six month period.

And again, this doesn't include the exclusives/cross gen Scarlett/Xbox One titles which could be as many as five for me. Or a new Switch Pro (which is all but guaranteed at this point) and Switch titles that get released in a year from now.

I literally hate having a backlog and thankfully, I only have a few games left for this generation that I actually want to play through and complete.

Point being is that I should be all evened out once next gen starts and thus, no reason for me to wait especially when im super hyped for it and a few of those titles (GOT, AC Ragnarok, DL2) are some of my most anticipated and will be dying to play day one on next gen hardware.

Sorry for the long post but im definitely super hyped and looking forward to the next generation of gaming so no way am I waiting. Hehe.

Didn't realize it was 34 months later. Didn't seem like it was that long. Actually can't believe it was that long lol. Seems it wasn't that long they came out with more storage on them.

Yeah, PS4 Slim was released in September 2016 after Sony had that press event that revealed the Slim and Pro models. The Pro model was released in November 2016.

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season

Yeah I'm not waiting 2-3 years. If I'm waiting, its because I'm not sure if the first wave or two of consoles might have technical issues. I really don't believe either consoles should have a Pro version. If it is as powerful as they are boasting, then there shouldn't be a need to upgrade. This past generation of consoles were held down by CPU/GPU. It doesn't seem like we have to worry about that. If they want to do the slim version that has better performance, then that is good for those who wants that. I just want to buy one console for next generation. I believe that the Pro versions almost takes a little away from next generation. While we will probably get more native 4k and possibly 120 FPS games, imagine the jump if we didn't get the upgrade mid gen. The jump to next generation would seem so much more greater if we had to stick with base models.

I'm torn because I can wait, but I'm also excited for the future of gaming. My backlog is complete. I want to buy 2k when it goes on sale. But as far as next year, I'm willing to miss out on all the games next year. Just in case launch titles aren't to my liking, I can still play some games on next gen consoles with possible performance boost. A good launch title would really help though. I feel like I could play 2k for like 3-4 months and then trade in pro console and base model in for a store credit trade in version. Only thing is that I still would have my Gamefly account active. So I might just cancel it for a year and bring it back around launch time. With my infant, I barely have much time to play anyway. So next year, I should be good

I waited until the Slim/right before the Pro came out to pick up a PS4 this gen. I'd rather put that money into a solid computer and then just swoop in a little later for cheap exclusives like a Persona.

Cancelled my Gamefly account for now. Looking ahead, I can wait until I get PS5 to play the games that come out next year. By not paying for 12 months, I will save $200+. Looking around, Gamestop has the best trade in value for consoles. While I don't want to trust Game Stop, other places aren't possibly giving as much for store credit. As I checked, they are offering $200 store credit for Pro and $140 Base model. While I don't know if that is for non Pro members, but that seems like a good trade in. If I can get over $300 for both consoles combined, plus saving $200 from canceling Gamefly for a year. That would potentially pay for new console.

So next year, I should be good
Agree 100% in regards to not having a PRO version a few years later but at the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if it happens. I don't want it to happen and would prefer a 5 year generation, no PRO version and then in November 2025, PlayStation 6 and 8K. I believe that the jump would just be for resolution - 4K to 8K. 4K isn't even the standard or owned by the vast majority so im hoping they stay with just one main console. A slim model that cuts costs is fine because that's an every generation and has been does since NES.

Out of those possible ten games I listed above, none of them would interest enough to buy the console day one? Or is it just sports games that you care about? Because those will definitely be there day one.

Backlog wise, I have four games - Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, Ratchet & Clank and Red Dead Redemption 2. Finished COD MW over the weekend. Come Wednesday, I'll have at least five days to put into The Outer Worlds and should have that completed by the time Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order releases and once that is done, it will then be time for Breakpoint and I'll go from there.

I should be 100% completely finished by March 20th, 2020 when Doom Eternal releases.

I do believe that there will be a PS6/Next XBOX. Most parts of the world doesn't have sustainajle internet for cloud gaming to be mainstream in the next decade. I just don't think there should be a Pro version. I actually would prefer if they truly extend this upcoming generation. If it is as powerful as they claim, then extend this generation to 10 years. Until they can get to Native 8k gaming for PS6, don't rush out PS5 Pro or PS6. We are finally getting to Native 4k gaming with possible 120 FPS, no need to rush.
I would be interested in GoT and Batman. Also a new Uncharted and Crash Bandicoot. I don't see God of War 5, Spiderman 2, GTA 6 being available until late 2021 at earliest. Honestly don't dive into many different games, but might next gen. While I like sports games, typically they aren't quality games until year 3 of generation. So I would be looking for good launch titles and BC

                                Agree 100%.

I'm expecting Ghost of Tsushima and WB Montreal's Batman game to be cross-gen and either same day as PS5/Scarlett or released September/October for current gen and next gen at launch. Expecting a brand new Uncharted game at launch or in 2021. Crash all depends on Activision.

I will say 2022 for God of War 2 and Spider Man 2. Based on Rockstar's history, im going to say 2023 for GTA 6. Any earlier and I would consider it a bonus. LOL.

True, it does take a few years for the sports titles to get going. Should definitely have a few good launch titles as well as BC.
