My fantasy price prediction would be Xbox Series S at $200 and Series X at $400 but realistically, I don't see that happening so I'll stick with my $300 and $500 price predictions for Series S and Series X respectively.

As for PlayStation 5, im sticking with $500 for the Digital Edition and $600 for the Disc Edition. The PlayStation 5 is reportedly costing Sony $450 before packaging and distribution which would put the console at $500 give or take. Even if you subtract $30 for the 4K Blu Ray drive, that still costs Sony $470 give or take and I honestly don't see them taking a loss on either console.

I do believe that they will overprice the Disc Edition for one simple reason - Sony wants you to go digital. I won't but vast majority will especially if games on disc are all $70 but digitally, they're $60.

But we'll see how it all plays out. By September, price, release date and pre-orders should all be known to us all.

Even though it is different from the PS3 days, $600 is still a lot of money and almost DOA. Either way, you still loss money on consoles early on regardless especially when they bundle in subscriptions and stuff. If you are going to take the bigger loss, it'll be on the digital one since they make more money off of it. $400 was the sweet number for them this generation. But we all know that isn't really reasonable with proposed specs. I think most are okay with the $500 mark for the physical edition. For Sony, the Digital Edition isn't really competing with Lockhart, it's competing with Series X as far as price. I think they would want the Digitial Edition to be cheaper than Series X.

Ideally, I would want Series X and PS5(Physical) to match the price at $500. Microsoft has bigger pockets and no one really believed them when they said they were competing with Sony or Nintendo. But, I do believe that they mainly just want you to be in their ecosystem. They are taking the PC route with the higher end and lower end console and believing in scalability. They really want to push that Play Anywhere initiative and the XCloud service. Hell, I think one of the newer Samsung TVs will have Gamepass available, so you wouldnt even need a console for that. I think Xbox just doesn't a repeat of this generation where PS4 costed $100 less and was the more powerful console. I think they would be okay with Series X and PS5(physical) matching price because they know Lockhart would be the cheapest way into next gen. While I still think PS5 will definitely outsell Series X, I do feel Lockhart will sell well.

I feel the Lockhart is good for the first few years of generation. Some don't really care about 4k gaming. But quality 4kTVs are already starting to be affordable. I'd imagine this Black Friday you can find good middle tier 4k Tvs that at least hit 4k60 for under $500. Then in a couple years TVs like the LG C9/CX will be a lot more affordable.
I feel there needs to be a big gap between Lockhart and Digital PS5. Even if it just $100 difference, you'll get a way better experience on digital PS5. Having Digital PS5 under $450 would be a big win. So I think $250-300 would be a good price for Lockhart.

Another way to look at this, Most of us have both machines. A low price tag on the Lockhart allows for Sony users to scoop up a next gen Xbox a lot faster than at full price. I'm A Day 1 purchaser, so it may not apply to me, but a cheap price tag appeals to gamers who want to own both systems and not pay for all the bells and whistles.

I'm fine with just one console. I don't consider my self a hard core gamer like that to have 2 consoles. But if I was, I would buy PS5 and Lockhart. I would buy Lockhart just for Gamepass. Gamepass is a great deal. Instant access to 1st party exclusives and a lot of good optimized BC titles. I can imagine a lot of people getting Lockhart as a secondary consoles and only pay for Online services and Subscriptions.
One clear advantage Xbox has is Gamepass and BC. Yeah Sony eventually dropped price of PSNow but still not competing with Gamepass. I don't ever see Sony dropping 1st Party exclusives day in date on PSNow, but at least should look to add them there once sales slows down. You can get Lockhart, Gamepass, and a couple other subscriptions and you're set. Eventually all the major 3rd party mutliplats comes to Gamepass and tons of optimized BC titles

I agree. I don't feel $50 is enough of a difference to entice people to go all-Digital. If Storage is the same as well since specs are the same, physical does everything the digital does and won't have to worry about any streaming issues. Then you are still able to share games and buy used ones with Physical edition. The perks for gamers going all digital for Sony is that they make more money off of digital purchases, so even if they are losing a lot for every console sold for Digital edition, they can make up for it in digital sales and subscriptions.

If it just $50 difference, I see more people sticking with Physical edition because of added bonuses. But if it is a $100 difference, least you can say that you are getting same experience and the $100 saved could be another game or controller.

I still feel $500 and $300 would be the respective prices for Series X and Series S. I don't see them wanting to take too big off of a loss with Series X. Plus Xbox One(with Kinect) and One X was $500, I see them sticking at that price. $200 seems way to cheap for a next gen console. Plus you would have to drastically cut down One X cost which is still selling for over $400. I think $300 is a good number. If they can show that 1} Lockhart doesn't hold back Series X games, 2) clearly more powerful than One X, and 3) main difference from Series X games are drop in Resolution and ray tracing affects, that'll help sell more people on Lockhart who want a secondary console. Some are thinking Lockhart will hold back Series X, they have to show it doesn't. There has to be a clear advantage of One X or people will stick with One X until Series X gets a good deal. Then if the only major difference is 1080p 60 or 1440p60/30 compared to 4k60, then you'll get mostly the same experience with the Lockhart

MS needs a big time mic drop and it will be 200 for lockhart and 400 for series x. this will make the competition with sony a tight one because i dont care what people feel, 100 difference in price for a superior machine with game pass is extremely hard to pass up for 100 more and an inferior platform just to play a few exclusives in 7 years at the cost of inferior multi plats which are the most sold

It's too soon to see ineXile's AAA RPG, but that's okay, If we get to see Obsidian's new AAA RPG, Playgrounds new AAA RPG(assumed to be Fable) and The Initiative's new AAA game(rumored to be Perfect Dark, but maybe isn't) *All of them day one Game Pass games* then I'm golden.


Halo and everything else is just gravy for me.

Hope they don't hold back. Higher expectations this time around. While I expect a similar approach to Sony's stream with it being 1080p 60 stream, but do up hope they show games running on Series X not just PC with Series X specs.

I don't expect price/pre-order/date until Lockhart gets revealed or if Sony drops info first. I think it is easier for Xbox to wait to drop that info. I feel it'll be better for Xbox to reveal price when they reveal Lockhart.

Rumors still swirling about Microsoft, EA, Take-Two, Activision being interested in buying Warner Bros studios. I rather Take-Two get it because I rather those studios stay Third party. But would be a big get for Xbox. Just don't want it to be EA lol

It would probably be more of a studios acquisition. I don't imagine them acquiring it and gaining exclusivity to any games in developments. Some of those IPs have licensing they would need to get approval first(like JK Rowling approving Harry Potter).

What a great day!!!

Can't wait for the July 23rd Xbox Games Showcase. Hoping it's at least 2 hours and that the show is stacked.

Just have to make sure I get off from work that day. Hehehe.

As for Microsoft acquiring WB Games, I must admit that im very surprised as I was never expecting Microsoft to be involved in the bidding. It would be one hell of an acquisition but outside of Mortal Kombat, they wouldn't be acquiring any of their IP's as far as I know so any sale would have to include multi-year licensing deals for multiple licenses.

Sure, getting Rocksteady and the others would be huge but also massively expensive if the licenses aren't part of the deal in some way. If a third party publisher was to acquire WB Games such as EA, I can definitely see a lot of people from the studios leaving and wanting to go elsewhere which in this scenario, Microsoft (and others in general) could start signing those who left without the massive investment.

One thing that would be interesting would be if the games are exclusive to Xbox/PC or are required to be multi-platform, meaning they also get released on PlayStation?
