What are your console upgrade plans/move Old units?

I'm looking at the Series X and PS5 - not sure about timing if I'll jump or not.

I was debating listing my stuff on kijiji/craigslist/letgo/facebook - man that's a lot of option lol

But the easiest thing has always been to try and get a trade-in premium at EB games because they give you a bump in value for the trade and it's totally effortless compared to listing and dealing with people.

What are you guys planning to do? What value do you assign OG ps4 and xbox one X (that's what I have).

I think the smartest move may have been to do this months ago and just not game for a few months.... thoughts?

I have 2 xbox one original systems. Keeping them, the Series X is going in the bedroom with the nice tv (my son broke our old one in living room so don't trust the savages lol)...One xbox stays down there, the other moving to our play room that has a tv to be a better streaming box.

Day One edition heading into a kids room, Series X replacing it in the living room. Still have the Tacobox (Taco Bell One X) in the Loft. Tacobox could be replaced by a Series S eventually.

Will have PS5 on launch day, provided Best Buy comes through on shipping the preorder on time.

I will likely trade in the PS4 Pro as soon as I can confirm the PS5's backwards compatibility capabilities with my library of games - it won't be right away after the 5 arrives. The PS3 will probably stay in my gaming center as there are still some games from that gen that I like to play from time to time.

Especially since Series S could come down in cost a bit over time...that would be a stellar streaming/game box cheaper

I should mention I have the OG ps4 and X1X - so the ps4 is noticeably more dated, making me lean towards upgrading it first. I'm not sure the xbox series x will be super relevant 'immediately' for me. I'm actually not even sure my TV can handle the upgrades (vizio p65 2018)

I don't want to keep the old ones though because I have a 360 in a box in the spare bedroom and it hasn't seen the light of day in years. I just hate that they are probably worth like 20-40 bucks now lol (especially the ps4).

I definitely don't feel rushed into getting them day 1 though, other than the inherent diminished value of the old systems. (even more so as time goes on).

My TV provider AND TV's have smart funcitons, so streaming isn't even necessary as well.

I have the OG PS4, but it is still trucking along. I will probably keep it hooked up for a while and leave it in the living room. Big TV and typically where I game. I will probably move it upstairs to that room when my father in law moves out. Thought about building a racing rig for up there, but the better console and better tv will be in the living room. Thankfully not really a tough decision here.

Re: What are your console upgrade plans/move Old units?

I sold my PS4 Pro on eBay a couple weeks ago. Got $265 after fees.

Will sell my One X probably either right before or right after I get the series X. I just won't have any use for it as I'm the only one in the house who plays on consoles.

eBay is sometimes a risk, but I think I'd rather go that route than dealing with people off Craigslist. I've done it before, and most of the time everything was fine, but I had an issue with a guy once where he tried to change the price on me when we met up.

Re: What are your console upgrade plans/move Old units?

Already have Xbox Series X pre-ordered from Best Buy and the Microsoft Store. Cancelled my pre-order from Amazon once I received an email saying that I may not receive the console at launch. Will cancel the Microsoft Store pre-order once I get close to November as I want to ensure that I get Series X day one.

Traded in the Xbox One X and Nintendo Switch late last year/early this year to GameStop. Still have just over $700 in GameStop trade in credit which I will be using to buy the bunch of games that I want at launch.

Will trade in the PS4 Pro to GameStop in mid to late October and that credit will just be added to the $700+ that I already have.

Still trying to pre-order PlayStation 5 but that's not going at all. LOL. Sony said 9 days ago that they would be having more pre-orders soon. Hoping it's sooner rather than later. If not, I will buy in the Spring when Ratchet gets released.

That's my plan, past, present and future.

Re: What are your console upgrade plans/move Old units?

I would STRONGLY advise AGAINST eBay.

Sold a PS3 via auction, buyer scoffed at shipping cost. We negotiated shipping cost via eBay messenger. Clear as day, couldn't have spelled it out any better the risks the buyer was taking on.

SHOCKER!; Box arrived with a corner creased, buyer refused package. eBay backed the buyer.

I had done nearly $20k in business via eBay. Near 100% satisfaction rating. NO shipping disputes. They still backed the buyer.

Thankfully I bought insurance, otherwise this would have been a total loss.

Cancelled my store after that. Obviously still bitter about the experience.
