I bit the bullet and cancelled my disc copy of mlb the show 24 and bought the digital, I guess I have to take the leap eventually and start with one game at a time.

That's a good question and I'm not sure. I found myself going back and buying a bunch of older PS3 games I had sold even after I got a PS5. Both of my sons each have an Xbox Series X and they love the digital copies. Neither of them ever want a physical copy of a game now. When I see the ease of how they switch back and forth, it does seem like a good idea.

Digital all the things. Last physical game I bought was Rock Band 4. Last Blu-Ray I bought was The Martian.

Our Blu-Rays are in a box next to our DVDs in the garage from when we moved in 2016 and never got unpacked.

That was also the year we cut the cord and haven't had a non-streaming TV service since.

There are pluses and minuses, but I have no regrets.

Have a healthy PC library and enjoy my console / PC game subscriptions as needed.

Physical for life. I will, however, purchase sports games digitally for convenience. I can go back and get a physical copy of a sports game dirt cheap a year or two down the road. The digital version will get delisted or never see a price drop after a period of time.

On non games media I've actually started buying more Blu rays again. Things are so fragmented that I'd rather just buy what I want so I don't have to figure out which streaming service it's on.

I did that and kinda wished I had sprung for the extra hundo on the disc version.

The disc version is too big for where I have my PS5 located so that was one reason i went digital at the time. Not that I mind the design of the console don't really like it but for the life of me I don't understand why they couldn't have just gone with a rectangular shape. I mean it is a box no reason for the weird look/shape of it.

I don't really care; I'm a minimalist and I like not having the discs around anymore. With movies & TV, the only time it bothers me is when the image quality drops during a stream.

Re: Your thoughts on digital games versus owning them?

Been digital since basically the end of the PS3 era, bought a few discs during the PS4 era, but I would say I was 98% digital.

Fast forward to this gen, and I'm 100% digital as far as games go, the only discs I buy are 4k movies as streaming doesn't look near as good to me.

Another reason I stay digital, is the sales and discounts on games through the MS store, as well as using MS points to get even more off the price, as a quick example...

I noticed on the MS store they had the Ultimate edition of Ghost Recon Wildlands which retails for $119.99 on sale for something like $23.99, so I used a few of my rewards points and got the $120.00 version for $17 and some change.

Being able to get complete editions of games at a discount or on sale is IMO way cheaper than buying a disc.

I can fully understand if someone is a collector of physical media, I used to be,but no longer want to mess with it.

I do have a few original Xbox games in boxes, but other than that? I couldn't honestly say the last physical game I bought.
People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.

Since some of my games that I bought for the PS4 digitally have gone missing I would say I wished I had bought the physical copies. No recourse I am sure. They show up in the trophy section so obviously I have played them but they are nowhere to be found.

I've been playing MLBTS24 digital download version for the last week. First sports non-disc game I've ever had. So far my experience has been as great as any disc-based game. But however, in a couple or three years when the disc version price hits rock bottom, I plan to buy it a precautionary backup. I don't know if I will willingly go digital only when EA CFB hits shelves, either way disc or download, both options are on the table, so right now I'm no longer a hardliner against digital downloads.

Did you check your library? They should be there.

I haven't purchased a physical copy of a game since the end of the PS3 era I believe. I prefer digital, I don't want to have store a bunch of physical media.

I haven't really bought any media in physical format for probably 10 years or so. I'm good with that.

My only fear about digital is getting hacked and losing my account or getting banned and losing my account.

I’ve lost and had physical media stolen so that’s the other side. As well have had physical media damaged so I rather just keep everything digital.

I’ve gotten to the point too where I don’t buy games at full price. Maybe a couple here and there but majority of the time I can find super deals with steam sales or play it on gamepass Xbox or PlayStation down the road.

I’ve collected such a back log of digital stuff that I can wait a year or two to play the upcoming titles.
