Re: Is it just me or...(Rap related)
How could you not know who Bun B is? Remember Jay-Z's "Big Pimpin"? There you go! He and his partner Pimp C are only one of the best duos in hip hop that have been around for a loooooog time. UGK (Underground Kingz ring a bell?) They're from the South reppin Houston so I'm sure that's why. Free Pimp C by the way (I hear he's getting out soon). I went looking for Bun B's Trill at 3 different stores that past 2 days and it has been sold out.Originally posted by GoldenstWarriorive listen to underground hip hop before as well
i stopped listening to it because guys tried to hard to be "underground" by just rhyming random words.. only a few M.c's do that though.. Supernat coems to mind... Ive listen to Slug ..I like his stuff hes too depressing though..
I agree though, I'm sick of the rap out now. Everybody talking about this big houses, cars, clothes, and jewelry. Probably the last CD I bought was the last Geto Boys album. Also bough Late Registration but I'm really not feeling that. It has a couple good songs on it that I like, but unlike College Dropout, I can't put it in and let it ride.
There actually used to be some good rappers from the South. I wonder what ever happened to Big Mike.Last edited by SoMiss2000; 12-17-2005, 10:35 PM."Never trust a big butt and a smile."-Ricky Bell

yea i know who UGK is (well heard them) never followed them... I didnt know the dudes name was Bun B...
I've reverted back to listening to older rap Illmatic of course, It was written, Popped in the Junior Mafia Cd the other day... Lately though tis just been some Old Cam stuff and Clipse... I may check out Chamillionaire.. even though i have no idea who that is...
I Think msot rappers out now get deals because of there voices.. Young Jeezy for instance.. he has a cool voice and nice delivery.. but content wise id rather listen to my homeboy spit some bars...#SimnationComment

For real.... Mainstream all sounds the same, thats why its called mainstream..
Originally posted by kuruptionalot of ppl dont care about punch lines , ive talked to plenty of ppl and they dont care about lyrics . ive had a couple of ppl tell me that the rapper could be telling them off throughout the whole song and as long as it sounds tight theyll listen to it . most ppl care about club beats and catchy hooks.^^^ BTW he's comin, Joe Budden in 06, no more "Pump it Up" songs either..... "The casual listeners only want to hear you talk about nothing," he said. "They don't even really wanna hear you. They just wanna hear the beats and a good hook. Then you have your people who grew up in hip-hop and the culture, and they wanna hear what you're saying and how you're saying it. Theres enough room for people to be introspective in hip-hop." Budden grinned slyly, as if he was tempering his words to be political, and lit up another Newport. But theres not enough people doing it. Or if they do, its track 38 on the album. That is not the case with me. I make club records and enjoy them. I make the girls' songs; I love girls. But my strong point is probably the introspective records that are talking about me or some deep, intense ****."

You listen to crap(except for the Clipse), that's why it all sounds the same.Originally posted by GoldenstWarriorDoes all rap now sound the same???
Maybe its just late and im buggin out but im sitting here listening to my albums/radio and every artist is saying the exact same thing... even some of the lines i can finish before they get finshed with them...All these houston guys talking about candy painted impalas... and teeth. East coast guys about selling cocaine...i mean damn.. its getting frustrating...theres hardly any quality stuff anymore.. what happend to the Nas's and the BIG's Tupac..Jayz.. who the hell is Bun B???..ARGHHH
Most if not all the stuff that comes on the radio is the exact same stuff.. just different deliveries.. I think i may need to step away from hip hop for a minute and let my love come back but im just not feeling anything that i hear lately.. (except for the Clipse i can always listen to them)
has anyone had similar thought or am i just trippin
Just a side note you may have noticed i mentioned NAS,BIG,Jay and said i listen to the Clipse..youre probably thinking WTF?? well i may be in the minority but i really think these guys do what they say they do.. and well its intresting to hear them rap about it.. besides Pusha and Malice have crazy delivery.. Sandman is growing on me to...Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Joe really got typecast as a party guy for that one song. He's one of the deepest rappers period, underground or mainstream. Pump it up was an aberration.Originally posted by Tha_KidFor real.... Mainstream all sounds the same, thats why its called mainstream..

I wouldnt say i listen to crap... I dont normally listen to the radio.. Im really over the whole "underground" thing.. as like i said most guys try way to hard to be underground..Originally posted by jmood88You listen to crap(except for the Clipse), that's why it all sounds the same.
Here are some of my favorites
Clipse
Camron
D-Block
Lil Wayne
Joe Budden
Jr Writer
Jae Hood
Cassidy
Phil Da agony
Papoose
..and of course Nas,Jay,Big
The point i was trying to make earlier is NOW as in over the past year or so very few quality rappers have emerged, and the radio is saturated with dance songs (not that thats a bad thing) and songs abut teeth and other idiotic things... I know the radio is crap.. but im waiting for someone else to come out that just ****s on the game..buddens did that when he first caeme out. But then he dissapeared (sorta).. Main streams not ready for guys like that.. they just wanna hear tight beats and cool voices...And most new rappers capabale of making QUALITY music sell themselves out to make a buck.Last edited by GSW; 12-18-2005, 12:59 PM.#SimnationComment
