    Calling all Laptop Aficionados

I'm knowledgeable in a lot of things but computers aren't one of them.

I'm going to be buying a laptop. I'm going to use it mainly at home but I want to be able to bring it into the office and perhaps when I travel. Wireless internet is a must.

I need lots of memory to store thousands of MP3's and a few movies.

I don't play videogames on the computer, so I don't need a fancy graphics card.

I have a rough idea of what I want. Money isn't an issue.

    Here are the specs:

    Dell Inspiron 630m

    - Pentium M Processor 750 (1.86 GHz/2MBCache/533MHz FSB)
    - Windows XP Home Edition
    - 14.1 Inch WXGA True Life LCD Panel
    - 1 GB Shared DDR2 SDRAM 2 Dimms
    - 100 GB Hard Drive
    - 8X CD/DVD Burner (DVD+/-RW) with Double Layer DVD+R write capablity
    - Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900
    - 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery (53 WHr)
    - Intel PRO 2200 Internal Wireless (802.11b/g, 54 Mbps)
    - Internal 56K Modem and Integrated Network Card
    - McAfee Security Center with Virus Sacn, Firewall, and Privacy 90-day trial
    - Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0
    - 512 MB Dell USB Memory Card
    - 1 year Return to Depot Service with 1 year Tech Support

Free: Leather Carrying Case and Microsoft Office Basic Edition 2003

The price comes out to around $2100. I have a contact within the Dell Company so I'll probably be able to get it cheaper than $2100.

I'll also be buying a wireless router and a cordless mouse elsewhere.

If this laptop going to suit my needs?

IMO, if you are going to spend that much money on a notebook and use it as your primary PC, I wouldn't settle with a 14" screen. I would opt for something like this one:

The other specs look good and the 9300 can be configured to the one you have listed, but I would definitely consider opting for a larger screen.

I went to FS to look at the screens and I found the 15.4 and 17 inch notebooks to be too bulky.

If you have already decided that you want a 14" screen, then everything else looks good; you can't go wrong with a Dell.

If money really isn't an issue why are going with one of the lowest end computer manufacturers? If you want quality I would go with IBM (Lenovo) first, then Toshiba and then Sony.

Also, I have a 15" monitor on my laptop monitor and I wish I had 14" for mine...15" is just a little too big for easy portability.
