Excellent picks. Bill and Melinda Gates give a lot of time and a mind-boggling amount of money annually to help improve world health and increase literacy. Bono's efforts are more publicized and also noble as hell. He'll deservedly win a Nobel Peace Prize in the next few years, I think.

The difference between the Gateses and Bono and many celebrities with their pet causes is that Bill, Melinda and Bono put their time and money where they're mouths are. They know their causes inside and out and are committed to them for the long haul unlike so many celebs. They're truly making a difference.

Meh, I liked the suggestion of giving it to Mother Nature for all the freaky weather we've had this year. Oh well I guess they wanted to have a positive spin on the year.
